Hello everyone, I would like to change the hard drive of my Xbox 360 (20GB) with a 120GB computer hard drive. In fact, I would like to take the hard drive out of its casing (sorry for using that term but I don't know what it's called), it seems possible but I want to be sure. If someone could enlighten me on this or send me a tutorial, that would be great. Thank you
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 3.0.5

Well yes, it's like the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360, you can put a laptop hard drive in it.

digging up but oh well...

The Xbox uses the FatX format (Microsoft's proprietary format)

Only official hard drives are compatible (or some Chinese copies or certain specific models that will need to be "prepared" on PC and signed with very particular software beforehand).

The hard drives are indeed in the 2.5" format, which is equivalent to those found in laptops.

So to summarize, if your console is neither JTAG nor jinxed, you cannot put just any 2.5" hard drive in it.

Okay, that's what I thought but I wanted to be sure. But then, what file system should the hard drive be in? NTFS or FAT32?

In fact, I would like to remove the hard drive from its plastic case to put in one from a laptop, just changing the hard drive (so I don't have to buy the one for 130 euros from Elite but use one that can be found cheaper but that would be more suited for a laptop... (I explain badly, I know...)

because the hard drives of these consoles are the same as those in a laptop

I can't tell you sorry because the Xbox 360, I don't know at all since I did it on the PlayStation 3 but not on the 360. My friend did it on his Xbox 360, but since the Xbox is Microsoft Windows, I think it's the same format as PCs. I'm not sure, but I think so. However, I'm certain that it's the same hard drives as PCs ;)

Normally, you need to format it in FAT32!

I saw that on another forum!

Yes, but FAT32, if I'm not mistaken, can only support volumes up to 32 GB :S

Not at all. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAT32. The limit for files is 4 GB PER file.

I have an Xbox Slim, and as soon as I plug in my portable laptop hard drive, my Xbox doesn't recognize it. How can I fix this?
