Hello,
I bought the iPod nano (4th generation) knowing that previously, I was using the first iPod nano without any issues, iTunes and my computer recognized it. But now, neither the laptop (Windows Vista) nor iTunes recognizes the new iPod. I downloaded version 8 of iTunes, I reinstalled iTunes, I plugged the iPod into my four USB ports. In short, I don't know what to do... Please help me!!

For any simple synchronization problem with the iPod, you unplug your iPod, hold the menu button as well as the center button (to validate your music) for 5 seconds, your iPod turns off, you plug it back in and it should be fine.
Hello ^^
I have this problem: neither my PC nor iTunes recognizes my PC...
Yet it charges when plugged in, iTunes is properly configured, and if I change the cable, nothing new happens at all :(
It's the first generation iPod Nano. Yet it works very well, I don't understand....

Hello! I have the same problem as you! Have you found a solution yet? Because I really don't know what to do!
Poulala the old topic that is coming back to life Oo. I agree with you Bob.
- Check for updates on several programs, especially those that manage peripherals (and restart at the end of the updates).
- Install the correct version of iTunes
- Try several USB ports for the iPod
- If the problem persists, go to forums, with a dictionary at hand -_- and without posting just to say "My iPod doesn't work." If you have a question, post it in a new thread.
- Otherwise, there is a number to call in case of problems that can be easily found on the website
- And finally, if none of these solutions work, buy several boxes of Kleenex. Ciao!

Hello, here is my problem:
When I plug in my iPod, there is no alert, no indication, NOTHING!
It's as if I hadn't plugged anything in. iTunes doesn't indicate anything, nor does my PC. I tried it on my cousin's PC just before and it worked, on my PC, it doesn't work.
Thank you in advance for a good response, please.
Best regards

Everyone has the same problem, no need to ask the question 20 million times. Does anyone have an answer to this problem, please?
I agree with you Bob, but, without wanting to offend you, iTunes takes an "s".
Moreover, when you write: "When you launch Itunes," it seems to me (I'm sure) that "lancer" is actually written as "lancez".
I want to clarify that I have the same problem as everyone else on this forum.
Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution yet.
Have a great rest of the day everyone!

Well, I had the same problem. I tried all the solutions you recommended above. None of them worked.
However, I changed the cable :) and tried several devices. It worked ;) so it may not be a software issue, but definitely a cable one :-) !

Hello,
When you launch iTunes, try checking the box to open iTunes automatically when the iPod is connected...
Close iTunes,
Connect the iPod.

I had the same problem as you. I'm also on XP and when I plugged in my iPod, nothing happened. I did some searching and eventually managed to connect it.
I figured it must be a device issue, so I went to the Control Panel, then opened Printers and other hardware and clicked on the right column “See also” on Add Hardware. The “Add Hardware Wizard” opens, you click next, and it searches for recently added hardware. Then you select Yes, I have already connected the hardware, and a list of names appears. You just need to search for “iPod” in the list, and there should be a yellow circle with an exclamation point next to the name (that’s the sign that the device has been incorrectly installed). Don't forget to plug in the iPod, then click on the name “iPod” in the list and the device will be reinstalled.
That's how I was able to reconnect my iPod.
I hope I could help you.

hello, I tried your method but "ipod" is not in the list. I followed all the steps you mentioned but it doesn't work. When I plug in my iPod (shuffle), nothing happens and on the bottom right of the screen, a bubble appears saying "USB device not recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." My iPod is not even charging and I can't put songs on it, but I downloaded iTunes and it still doesn't work.
can you help me? Is there any way for my PC to recognize my iPod shuffle?

Hello, I have the same problem as you, but I've tried all the solutions you mentioned and nothing works. I took my mother's iPod Touch 3, and it recognized it, so I tried again with my iPod Touch 4, and still nothing. Please help me, I need to install music and put iOS 8 on it.
Thanks and have a good evening.

If your PC does not recognize an Apple product, simply change the cord. My PC does not recognize my iPhone 4, nor my iPod, nor my iPad with the original cord, but accepts them all with a compatible T'nB cord.
Hello, I had exactly the same problem with my iPod; it wasn't syncing and wasn't visible on my Windows.
The solution that worked for me was to connect another Apple device like my iPhone to check my cable; it was working perfectly, so afterwards I reconnected my iPod and miraculously it synced on its own.
