Archos 104 won't turn on! HELP!!!!!!

Hello,
for the past two weeks, my Archos won't turn on. It lights up for a second and then turns off only when I charge it, and otherwise it doesn't turn on at all. The two blue lights on the side are on when it's charging, so the battery shouldn't be the problem.

I'm not very good with digital stuff, so if you could help me, I wouldn't refuse it.
thank you
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.12

I had the same problem as you, my Archos had no shock at all (just a little scratched) then in the middle of the day, bam, no more music, it turns off. I thought I had no battery left, so I waited until the end of the day, plugged it in to charge, and then it wouldn't say anything, it wouldn't turn on.

At first, I thought it was the battery because when I plugged it in, it started charging (the blue light was on) then I waited, and the blue light started blinking, so it was charging. I turned on my Archos 104, and it turned on for half a second and then turned off. Stubborn, I plugged it back in, and the blue light stayed on without blinking, so it was charging.
My brother opened up my Archos, and when he touched the battery: miracle, it works.

The problem came from the soldering of the battery which was unsoldered.

    So that's the problem resolved.

      It worked for me
I had exactly the same problem
however, my Archos is no longer recognized by the PC, if you have a solution for that too
      I’m all ears!!!

      Hello!
Thanks for the advice, Superman, but there's still a problem in my case. When I close my Archos, the issue comes back. Do you have any technique to recalibrate the battery or something like that?
      Thanks in advance!

I found a really simple trick, I stuck the battery with a piece of paper... I don't know if it will hold for long, but it's helping me for now!!

Yes, I have the same problem and I hear a sort of high-pitched whistling.

    Hi there!

I have exactly the same problem as you since this morning.
Impossible to turn on anything without USB power, and it only lights up for half a second with USB power.
    What a bummer!

Do you know how long this player is guaranteed for? If you tell me a year, I’m going to be really upset... My Archos is a year and a month old...

Personally, I don't have this problem
My screen is broken, the player works
So I'm looking for a screen for Archos 104
If anyone has one that doesn't work at all, I'm interested.

I've been unable to turn on my Archos for a few hours now!! It turned off because the battery was dead, so I connected it to my computer to charge it, and when I came back to check on it, there was no light at all. I tried to turn it on, and nothing at all!!!

Please give me some advice and answers

    Please

you should try the superman method
since my archos is no longer under warranty, I opened it as he specified in his
message and it really was a soldering issue with the battery.
I just pressed on it and it turned on!!!

I also have a problem with my Archos, seemingly similar to yours, but before I open it up to see if it's really the battery that's acting up, I have a question: when it's charging, does your player make a "worrying" noise (actually, we can hear the hard drive spinning (I suppose, I can't really see what else could be spinning), but it makes a rather high-pitched and much louder noise than usual)
    Thank you!
