Hello,

I have a problem: when I turn it on, the screen only displays thin vertical lines in different colors. I have of course checked the connections and ensured that the hardware hasn’t moved. It is also impossible (therefore) to access the BIOS or safe mode.
Has anyone encountered this type of problem before, and is there anyone who can help me?

I seem to have the same problem: pink or green vertical lines depending on... Sony tells me that the graphics card is dead: repair cost is 580 euros. Is there a solution you know of before I buy a new PC, especially since I really like this one....

Hi there, I encountered the same problem but in my case it's that my cousin messed with the screen of my laptop. First, it displayed a white screen and sometimes black, and after restarting, the screen appears with different colors and vertical lines, and it gets stuck on that screen. I haven't found a solution, so if someone could help me or if there's a solution, it's the same problem as the one already mentioned. Thank you!!

Hello everyone, I found my computer. My issue was caused by my power supply being too weak for my Core 2 Duo, and it made my graphics card burn out. I've changed both now, and I'm all set.

As you found a solution? I have the exact same issue. And I can't check if it’s the graphics card by connecting it to another screen, since I can't access the desktop, the BIOS, or anything at all...

What you can do, Neilus, is take your screen and test it with someone else. If it works, then it's your graphics card that said goodbye :/. Good luck to you.

To answer your question, I'm connected via HDMI and it was when I tried to connect the DVI that everything crashed, and since then I've had horizontal lines (My ASUS 7950HD 3GB graphics card: 3 days of use!)

Yes, it's the capacitors, I had the same problem. You take apart your TV and you check the capacitors to see if they are swollen; if they are, they're usually dead. It creates a bump on top; you can check by looking at a capacitor that is flat on top, you'll see that it's bulging. Those that are bulging are dead, replace them and everything will be fine.
