The E in the O

Solved

Hello,
I couldn't find how to correctly type "coeur" with the "e" in the "o" on the keyboard (before, I used the Word dictionary which proposed the correction, but not on this computer where it just skips it without a word - Word 2003 - )
I even looked for solutions like "ligatures" or "diacritics": there are other things that might interest me with CTRL etc. but they don’t work on my laptop in AZERTY, just like those with Alt+X and UNICODE

Help !
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello,

Heart, beef and other ;) stories are automatic corrections in Word. There's no need for the dictionary. Just type the word followed by a space or a line break for it to auto-correct and for the ligature to happen automatically.

Check in the Tools menu, AutoCorrect Options, AutoCorrect tab, that the option "Correct as you type" is checked.

If it's checked and it still doesn't work, check that these words haven't been removed from the auto-corrections.

For your information, the keyboard shortcut for making a œ : you type Ctrl+1 (alpha keyboard) then type the letter o.
or: Alt+0156
but in principle, you shouldn't need it.

PS: for Unicode, it's not Alt+X as indicated in the help, but Alt+C

Great Marina!

Awesome the CTRL 1
If you have other tips like that... (e.g. playing with dots or accents above or below)

I will try Unicode with CTRL C. Thank you. But like with the Alt ASCII, I need a numeric keypad (Fn F11) on my laptop and it's much less convenient than your CTRL 1!!!

You mentioned checking if words have not been removed from the correction. How? Can we open a lexicon?

Are you referring to exclusion dictionaries? I tried to create one to enforce the correction of hearts and other "mœurs" but it didn't work (I had indeed found my PROOF folder)

Maybe I should load another dictionary? (compatible with Word 3000):
grammar is also random, and regarding my correction while typing, it highlights certain mistakes (not the "oe") but doesn’t suggest anything.

A big thank you: this is my first question on a forum, awesome!
