Hello,
I have a problem... I am no longer receiving a TV signal on my Freebox, here is what appears on my TV screen:
error 101..insufficient bandwidth: your ADSL connection cannot support receiving 2 channels simultaneously or the requested channel exceeds your line's bandwidth..
Does this problem come from my installation or is it the Free network that's glitching? (considering it's raining..)
Until now everything was working more or less perfectly..
Can someone help me? Thank you!

I also have error 101 but not on all channels, Canal+ in clear, the mosaic, France 3, France 24... so I wonder how a hardware issue or my cabling could allow 80% of my channels to work and not the 20% of others.
I have the solution, you need to unplug both Freeboxes and then plug them back in almost at the same time, then press the two buttons on the power cable with no more than 30 seconds apart; at least for me it worked.
Thank you MALABAR! After doing every possible and unimaginable hard reboot, updates, contacting Free, resetting Freeplugs, headaches, etc...
I just unplugged and plugged back in the 2 boxes "almost" at the same time...
and IT WORKS!!!! HUGE!!!
For those who have this problem, it was my last chance, a bit hopeless but give it a try, it costs nothing!!!
All the channels have gone back to HD like before... "go figure, Charles...."

Hehe!
My speed has returned to normal thanks to this link:
https://forum.universfreebox.com/viewtopic.php?t=3676
Thank you very much.
Just to summarize my issue:
FREE had just delivered a new HD box to me (the old one was no longer recording) and since the connection, I couldn't record one channel and watch another at the same time because "the speed was insufficient".
After following the steps in the link above to the letter, my problem was solved!!!!
So good luck to everyone who goes through there... and thanks again to the "problem solvers" ;-)

I had the same problem with my Freebox.
A technician from Free came (€49 for the visit).
He opened the box at the line's arrival "France Télécom" (this box is usually located near the electrical panel). He removed the capacitor that I hadn't seen (for beginners, it's a small rectangular component with 3 metal legs).
Then everything worked perfectly.
He explained to me that by pressing "start" + "select" on the Free HD remote, a lot of characters appear on the TV, including: rtp=0 and ssrc=0.
If rtp increments, i.e., rtp=1 then rtp=2..., then it's the Freebox that has a problem.
The solution is to test the Freebox with another power supply, another telecom cable, another ADSL filter... if the problem persists, the Freebox is faulty.
If ssrc increments, the problem comes from the HD box.
So, we test with another power supply... if the problem persists, the HD box is faulty.
If both rtp and ssrc increment, it's a communication problem between the Freebox and the HD box, particularly the powerline adapters that have an issue.
The solution is to re-synchronize them on the same power strip, otherwise, one of the powerline adapters is faulty.

Hi,
Same symptoms for me. Everything was fine in the best of the free world (HD box okay + Canal + okay) when error 101 happened last week.
The technician came today, removed the capacitor and reconnected everything "normally." My ATM speed (PARAMETERS -> NETWORK INFO -> ADSL) is at 13000 kbit, mission accomplished, everyone is happy...
... Except that, 4 hours after his visit, my ADSL box goes into recovery mode... Then, all of a sudden, guess what???? ... That old familiar error 101 makes a comeback!!!
Surprised, annoyed... And fed up, I reboot everything, the TV comes back, I even manage to get Canal + back (not more than 10 seconds, can't be too relaxed!!) then... I fall back into low or normal service. Goodbye high speed!!
So, I reboot in "firmware"... but nothing to do!!!
I can only access the low-speed TV service
My ATM speed has dropped to 2035 kbit... despite my attempts!
Questions:
- Has anyone had the same symptoms with a better solution??
- Will calling the technician again solve the problem (not to mention my wallet in any case)??
- What can I do except curse the fact that I just subscribed to Canal and can't enjoy it??
Thanks for any help...

Good evening,
I have the same issue, error 101! After rebooting my Freebox HD (5 times), it displays Freebox TV but still shows the same error message even though I can access other sections of the home page (telesite, freebox personal, magneto).
I have been with Free for over 3 years and I haven't changed anything in the connections.
Thank you for your advice.
Cédric

Hello
it works for me too.
I followed the recommendations here to the letter:
https://forum.universfreebox.com/viewtopic.php?t=3676
and especially the point:
B-Hard Reboot of the HD Box:
1-First, unplug only the power supply of the HD box
-Then connect it to the ADSL box via Ethernet using the yellow cable provided by Free => absolutely no WiFi!!
2-Once the two boxes are connected via Ethernet, reconnect the power supply of the HD box while pressing one of the buttons located on the front.
-As soon as "Firmware" appears, release the button and wait for the complete reset of the HD box.
reset phase --> FREEBOX ---> NETWORK ---> VIDEO and finally: ROCK'N ROLL
3-If necessary, you can then turn off your HD box and put it back in place, and/or disconnect the Ethernet cable to return to your usual WiFi or CPL connection.
ESPECIALLY: -As soon as "Firmware" appears, release the button and wait for the complete reset of the HD box.
good luck
it works for me too.

I performed a hard reboot of the Freebox (turning the power off 5 times), then I connected the Freebox and the Freebox HD with an Ethernet cable. I reset the HD by unplugging it. I pressed five buttons on the front while plugging it back in. The firmware appears. Let it run until Freebox TV appears. I put my Freebox HD back in place. Once the connections were made, I went to settings and searched for TNT channels. The Freebox HD worked again. I clarify that I don’t have ADSL, so I only have the TNT channels.
1/ Disconnect the HD box for 10 hours (powered off)
2/ Connect the HD box to the ADSL box with the Ethernet cable (yellow) provided by Free.
3/ Plug the HD box into an electrical outlet while pressing a button on the front panel.
Once "FIRMWARE" is displayed, release the button on the front panel.
The HD box will automatically retrieve the latest software (firmware).
Wait for all phases to finish and let us know if your HD box is working correctly
Good luck

We'll keep each other updated!! Tomorrow we're going to review the entire setup at our place and do a firmware update on the FreeBox HD and we'll see...... Thank you.
Hello,
The same thing happened to me today after rebooting the Freebox, exchanging the CPLs and ultimately no change, still error 453 low speed! So I unplugged all the Ethernet ports from the Freebox, did some dusting, and then plugged them back in, but not in the same place, and by miracle everything is working.
Good luck to everyone, hoping this helps you.

Hello,
Without changing anything to my phone and electrical installation but after numerous hard reboots / reboots of the box followed by a final hard reboot of the HD, I finally recovered the TV, in low bandwidth, of course, but I'm too far for HD.
I had this issue for several days and was searching for possible answers.
The one proposed here is therefore good, but it requires insistence. For me, it worked.
PHEW.......
Have a good day everyone.

Hello everyone,
I had the same issue, error 53 then error 101.
I performed the famous hard reboot, checked for capacitors, cleaned my setup... Still nothing!!!!
In despair, I took a coffee-cigarette break, and I put my box in the fridge for a good 15 minutes.
Upon return, hard reboot again, reactivated the hard drive, searched for TNT, and there was a miracle....! It works again, who knows why.
In any case, the Freebox V6 Revolution is ordered....
Good luck to all those who still have stubborn equipment.

Hello,
I've had the same problem for a week. I went on the free online chat to get assistance, and I already specified that all possible and imaginable hard reboots had been done. The result: after an hour, they told me that a test of my line would be done remotely, and I was given an appointment with a technician that will cost me at least 49 euros... (all this for a problem that I assume doesn't come from me) so it seems that the best thing to do right now is to make an appointment with a technician.

I just received a response to my email from Free asking me to put filters on all my phone jacks. I think it might be from my end because we redid the entire phone installation!!! I think if you request a technician, you will wait a long time!! That's Free for you!!
I really think that the problem is a general network issue and I won’t wait that long because my appointment is on Thursday afternoon, but I wonder if I won’t be paying for nothing. I don't know if he will do anything or if it's even worth having him come. I only have one phone jack, so I only need a filter actually. I'd like to know if anyone has managed to get rid of the E101 error recently and how, because I don't want to pay a technician for nothing... thanks.
Hello everyone, for me it's the same with this famous error 101 but everything works on freeplayer telesite... except TV and I called Free and a technician is coming in 15 days

Hi
I just had the same issue when activating the freeplayer from PC to TV
Right after watching my video, I checked the channels but they didn't work anymore.
I rebooted a bit, then I tried unplugging the power cable of the freebox HD, plugged it back in, pressed the right button for a few seconds and it reinstalled the firmware and everything, after that it worked ^^. I think that pressing any buttons would have worked just as well.
Anyway, it's resolved for me =p
Good luck!!

Hello, I also have a problem with the Freebox HD that shows error 101. I would like to contact Free by email, but the problem is that I can't log into my account. In the first letter we receive with the equipment, there is a Free identifier as well as the password, but it doesn't work. And I must not have entered my email during registration because I haven't received anything in my inbox.
I have no other way to contact them than by phone or address, but that is more complicated.
Could someone please help me?
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
well, it's been almost two months now that I've had this error 101, so no TV; everything else works. I am currently in contact with Free, who is checking a few things. If nothing happens, they inform me that a technician should come to my home for a fee that I can't afford.
Can you help me? Thank you in advance.

Hello,
I managed to have some days of TV and then yesterday nothing again E101!!
Indeed, as long as I had more than 2400 kbits/s, it was fine, and now I've dropped back to 2200 and around.
So I've taken drastic measures, namely:
Buying and installing a line termination filter, and a shielded RJ11 cable.
And the TV is back, I now have
5560 kbits/s, Attenuation: 50.50 dB,
As they say, "cleaning" the line is useful, hoping that Free won't release a new more demanding bandwidth!!
I hope I'm out of the mess.
Good luck to everyone.

Dear partners in struggle, I think I've found the solution.
After reading all your tips to overcome this terrible E101 error, I first tried unplugging as suggested by an internet user, but that didn't work.
So I decided to unplug everything... yes, everything, including the 2 plugs (that's what we call the boxes that blink green, right?), so there it is, then I plugged everything back in and, miracle, it works.
Good luck to you all, I think I've found my career change.
