No more notifications (red circle) on Mail!

Hello,
Although I haven’t changed anything in my settings, my “Mail” no longer shows the number of emails I’ve received...
I can hear the “pings” but there’s no more little red circle...
I actually liked those red circles...

did you go to MAIL preferences + presentation and check the first box I think and hope that’s the one

Ahhh, I'd love to have a glass of some white wine while waiting for my little red circles!
But all the boxes are checked and nothing's working.
Especially since I haven't touched the settings I had that were working perfectly...

1/ fix your permissions
2/ uncheck and recheck those preferences
3/ close this email
4/ fix your permissions again
reopen this email
and cross your fingers with me
if not two solutions 1/ wait better like an idea only someone who has experienced this might know ... 2/ uninstall this email and reinstall it from your DVD 1 (or universal) with PACIFIST
