What you are describing resembles the effects of a highly efficient virus that is almost undetectable, coming from German hackers who are fond of this kind of prank. There are few solutions other than complete formatting, but verify at startup; a phrase appears at startup for less than a second.

Hello,
thank you for your response.
No, formatting does not solve the problem.
With several analyses of my PC online, I managed to remove it by using my PC normally.
But the problem came back a few days later!!
I can only use my PC in safe mode and when I manage to start it!!
Otherwise, I see the dollar sign and the screen stays blue!
I will look for a solution online again, and if I find one, I will post it here!!
Thank you and see you soon

Hello, I had the same problem with the dollar symbol at startup and then green and blue lines before the BIOS menu and after the BIOS menu. I isolated all components, and my deduction is that it’s the graphics card; either a serious virus in it or something burned out. Then I tried to flash the BIOS, everything went normally, but at the moment it says reboot, it shuts down and the PC doesn't turn back on, no lights, nothing on the screen, no fans, the PC is dead, nothing can be done. So I really think there’s a virus in a block, but not a usual virus; it feels like another blow from Microsoft. So if you have this problem, don’t even try, it's dead, and don’t try to flash it, that will ruin your PC. The only thing you might be able to do is run it without the graphics card drivers or in safe mode. Thanks Windows for this lovely Christmas gift in 2008. I know it’s frustrating, but it’s not the end of the world; you’ll have a more powerful PC next time.
PS. I'm done with Windows bullshit and laptops; nothing beats a good tower with Linux. My advice: backtrack.

yes I confirm what was said in this forum windows is crap and especially vista seriously what idea did microsoft have in mind to create this piece of crap OS I really don't understand even xp is crap 98 was very good and as for laptops I'm stopping the nonsense too much money for nothing I advise everyone who wants to invest in a really good pc to put it in a regular built pc not in a laptop it's a big joke

There will be no other solution but to change the graphics card?

Hi,

I have dollars at startup and red points during the initial text scroll. Then, by default, my card became VGA even though I have an Nvidia 8800 GT.

I changed the graphics card, and now there are no more dollars or red points. I think my card is dead. So, for Christmas, I might get a 9400 GT, hoping it doesn’t happen again.

Have you fixed your problem since then?

I have a problem similar to the startup where dollar signs appear. Then there are bugs with the videos (purple patterns in the watermark) and then it's impossible to play the games, which look like a real graphical mush.

Hello everyone, to address your problem which was initially mine as well and for which I received no response, which is understandable if no one had encountered this issue before, I didn't think it was useful to note that I had found the problem but perhaps I should have done so anyway, as you could have had the solution sooner if it is indeed the same issue, and I apologize for that. So I would like to remind you that following this problem, I attempted a restoration, which did not work with the first restoration but eventually on the third attempt, always reverting to earlier dates, and once the display returned to normal, there were no issues during the use of the PC until the moment I stopped using it, but still powered on, the PC eventually went into hibernation and boom, the problem returned. So I thought it was related to the motherboard or more specifically the BIOS since even without a hard drive and accessing the BIOS, it did the same thing. I inquired about the price of a motherboard, but before buying it, I decided to try with another graphics card. So I got a graphics card that was lent to me and the display was perfect, no issues at all. To be even more certain that the problem was indeed with the graphics card, I tried it on another PC and it did the same thing. So there you have it, the issue was with the graphics card, and since then, no more problems. However, I saw in one of the messages that it could be a virus, which I am skeptical about because on the other PC there was no virus and I had the same issue, unless this virus specifically attacks Nvidia graphics cards. Hoping to have helped you, best regards.

but seriously ... I have two NVIDIA graphics cards ... both prevent the PC from starting or when it starts, the PC freezes after a certain time ... maybe a virus attacking the BIOS of the NVIDIA graphics card (there must be one for the BIOS because when I turn on my PC, a line appears saying NVIDIA BIOS ...)
