Hello, I'm on XP Home Edition, with a fairly recent computer, and recently, for some reason, when I insert a CD into any drive or a memory card (camera), the automatic window asking if I want to open or read the document no longer appears.
Not knowing how to proceed, I'm turning to a friendly expert who can provide me with a solution.
Thank you in advance, Jean Luc

Hello aria99,
If your problem is indeed about enabling, the method is as follows:
To enable or disable AutoRun,
.... Under Windows XP
Start...Run...type Regedit
Once the registry is open, go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom
then on your right, right-click on Autorun
edit.. the Edit Dword Value dialog will open
In the value data field, type
1 to enable autorun (that is, to start automatically)
0 to disable it (your CD will not start upon insertion)
Best regards and @+
