how to connect a DVD burner? Solved/Closed

Bonjour, j'ai acheté un lecteur graveur DVD, mais je ne sais pas quel câble brancher car il y en a qui se ressemblent. J'aimerais savoir lequel brancher à l'arrière du lecteur. Merci, Jean-Guy.

Go to this page and look at the diagram of the hard drive to understand the different connections (it's the same on a burner!)  disk  Interface + Jumpers + Power Supply

Hi,
You need to connect 2 things:

Power connector (Molex): Flat, semi-transparent, 4 pins
(There should be several, at least 4)

Ribbon cable: If you have another drive, you need to connect it to the same ribbon cable (Flat, thin, and wide cable).

Do you have another drive or burner on your PC??

Which one will you use as your main reader?  I ask the question because you will need to adjust the sliders at the back of each of them.

I would like to know if it’s possible to keep both in working condition, but can the DVD drive read, copy, and burn music CDs???

Of course you're going to keep both working!

You didn't quite understand what I meant to say.

If you want your new burner to be the main drive, you need to set its rear jumper to "Master."

Use tweezers to take it off.

And set the jumper on your old burner to "Slave."

Have you already located the cables I mentioned earlier?
