Hello,
I have a problem with my MP500 printer that displays "incorrect print head type, insert the appropriate print head." Can someone give me some advice? Thank you in advance.

I had already cleaned everything, put the cartridges back in order (and in the right order!! this is the third time I've changed them and there have never been any issues!!) but the same thing happens again and again! Do I need to throw it against a wall?

As for the print head of my mp500 printer, after checking everything, I removed the head and pressed the vacuum hose directly behind the print head, a lot of ink came out and I wiped it with a cloth. I reinstalled my head and ink and it printed.

Same problem with this message that has been blocking my printer for 15 days: "Incorrect print head type..."

I followed the procedure to clean the print head block: immerse the block in demineralized water for 24 hours, changing the water regularly until it remains clear.

I put the block back in the printer (Canon MP500): same thing, the message appears again. It's really unacceptable to sell such equipment!

If anyone has managed to solve the problem, thanks in advance for your insights.

Hello,

I have the same issue as you with my Canon Pixma MP500 printer, I am getting the error message "Incorrect print head type, please insert the correct print head." However, I have removed everything and cleaned it, but nothing works. I await your response, thank you.

Has anyone else encountered this print head problem?

I looked for the price of a print head for the Canon Pixma MP500: 73 €!!!

73 € for a piece of plastic with a tampered chip!
Hmm... what do we call that again? Theft? Ah yes, I think that's it: theft!

Hello;

my Canon MP800 suddenly stopped printing in black, only in color.

I cleaned it with acetone (couldn't find isopropyl alcohol..) and then used an air compressor, and a lot of dirt came out. I reassembled it but the same problem persists.
After a second cleaning, I must have made it too wet, and I got an error message on reassembly: print head not compliant!!!
No panic, I retrieve a working head, replace it confidently expecting a good result, and horror of horrors, the same symptom: it still doesn’t print in black!!!!!!!!!!!
So where are you, problem?????

For the record, I only used original consumables.
Around me, there are plenty of Canon MP800s that are breaking down, with broken screens and other failures.

I am skeptical about Canon's reliability.

There are spare parts for printers - such as the MP500 that I bought for 260 euros and which stopped working, but is now functioning again since I replaced the print head for 83 euros at S2I Informatique - 33910 SABLONS -
sure, it's expensive, but cheaper than buying an equivalent printer -
meanwhile, I kept my old print head which I will clean with a special product "print head cleaner" brand KF - jet clean sold on Conrad.fr - and if everything goes as promised for this cleaner, I might have 2 print heads - it is evident that if I had known about "jet-clean" before, I would have tried it before buying a new head - but you can't predict everything -

Good evening,

I have the same problem and I found heads in the USA for $45 + $10 shipping, which is $55, but I will try a deep cleaning first. As for this part, it has been removed from its site and I thought that commercial links couldn't be posted.

Best regards.

I'm sorry, I'm a bit of a novice and don't understand everything! I removed the cartridges and reinstalled them, but I don't quite see how to remove the printhead (I'm not very skilled, you know, drawing it would help me!). I can't really figure out how to do it, and there's no way to access the menu (even looking at the manual!). Thank you for your patience...

See the notice page 17 marker 14: Print head locking lever. Used to hold the print head in place.
By moving the lever (with the cartridges removed, we should be able to do something with the head, right?
Not having this printer, I can only imagine through the manual

I need to manually align the print heads of my Canon IP 3000 and I don't have the user manual. Can someone tell me how to do it? Thank you in advance.

Thank you, I followed the instructions but in the properties: maintenance: custom settings: I don't have the manual alignment function available. How can I enable it? Thank you in advance.

Oups
Not having this printer, I can't say more... there is certainly a way to do this without using the PC... using direct buttons on the printer, right???

Turn off the printer, remove and reinstall the print heads, turn the printer back on; otherwise, replace the print head with the correct one for the right printer. Post deleted Moderation CCM

When you have a problem to solve, this kind of response is really annoying!

Well, it has already been installed and was working fine, but here we are (thanks for the manual). However, we can't access the menu, the ink is full, everything is alright, but oh dear, it doesn't work and I keep getting the same message. Do you have another idea? Or should I keep looking for the chat? Thanks a lot!

When I talk about installation... it's about print heads and/or ink cartridges.....
Remove everything and replace it all and place it.
Finally, redo a head alignment....

I have the same issue as you with my Canon MP500 printer. Did you find a solution or did you throw it against a wall?

Hello,
I had the same problem and I managed to get it working again by applying the procedure to reset the printer's internal counters:

See on the page http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-988820-imprimante-canon-et-reservoir-d-encre-usagee#q=imprimante+canon+et+r%E9servoir+d%27encre&cur=1&url=%2F

Did you forget to remove the "protective tape" from the (or one) cartridges....
Are the cartridges in the right order???
Clean all the things that are electrical contacts (small golden pins or little pins on the cartridges and heads)...

Canon is crap. The obsolescence with Canon goes beyond limits. They put chips in the machines that automatically break down after a while. The chip on the circuit board needs to be reprogrammed.

And how do we do that?
Thank you ;-)
