Hello,

I am at work, and no one is able to give me an answer!!

The drum light on our Brother HL-2030 printer is flashing. I would like to know what that means
and what I should do! Thank you for getting back to me quickly so I can fix it!

Best regards,

Orianne

    Hello,

It means your printer is playing a drum...
    Well, almost.
It means your drum is dead and you need to save some money to buy another one.

    Have a good day.

Sure, it's not a repair to be done but a drum to be purchased. It's kind of you to help me! Thank you very much!

Do you know the approximate price of a drum?

No, the drum is not dead; it’s the maximum copy number (12,000) that has been exceeded. You need to act as if you are changing the drum, then reset the machine by printing a page that shows the machine’s status (sequence to be found…).

The machine parameter print sequence is 3 times the GO button in less than 2 seconds. Indeed, my printer is working again with the same drum (the light continues to blink nevertheless). Thanks for the tip.

To stop the drum LED from blinking.

      1) Open the cover
      2) Press and hold the go button for 4 seconds (all LEDs should light up)
      3) Remove the drum and either replace it or put it back.

Still relevant in December 2016, thanks for the quick method when responding to interventions, as each printer is different.

    I quote...

As for the rest, could someone, if possible, translate this incomprehensible gibberish into French?

Indeed. You will find it on the left side of your toner cartridge. On the original cartridge supplied with your Brother HL-2030 printer, the mechanisms inside prevent you from simply turning the reset lever back to its original position, which would seem to indicate to your printer that the cartridge is full of toner. You need to unscrew the top open part (3 screws), and take off the small side panel with the paddle mechanisms, it falls back into the full position, and close the panel again. It's easy, just three screws. I suggest placing the cartridge in a vertical position (with the white paddle on top, of course) to avoid spilling toner and ensure the other mechanisms stay in place.

When you are done, put the drum cartridge back in your printer and turn it on. All three lights will be on, and then you can print again (toner counter will reset).

Don't forget to wash your hands if you have touched the outside of the cartridge; toner is poisonous.

    Good luck and happy printing!

Why translate? Orianne seems to be quite satisfied with this discussion, as she hasn't asked any questions since July 2008.

As for arki, he clearly enjoyed expressing himself in this forum over 15 months ago. So why hurt him?

Especially since you know perfectly well that if this kind of problem happened to you, it’s to the Hardware forum that you would turn...

Hello, in September 2016, your comments and advice are still relevant and it's working. I just tested it on a Brother HL 5040! Thank you all, and especially it allows me to keep working.
