Hello, many every day, questions like "What to do I have the 3 red LEDs?" or "What to do I have 4 red LEDs and here is the solution to follow.

Explanation of the red LEDs & Error Codes:

-The LEDs blink diagonally (1 & 3 then 2 & 4): The battery is low
-The 4 LEDs blink at the same time: loss of signal with the console, move closer to it, or synchronize the controller with the console, if you haven't done so yet.
-The LED corresponding to my player number is blinking: Most often the 1, it indicates an event concerning you (invitation to play, chat request, etc...)

=============================

1. Ensure that the AV cable is properly connected to the Xbox 360.
2. Disconnect the AV cable from the Xbox 360 and reconnect it.
3. If the 4 LEDs continue to blink, try wiping the metal part of the AV cable with a dry cloth. Clean the connections thoroughly and then reconnect the cable.
4. If the cable is properly connected and the LEDs continue to blink, replace the cable.

1. Try restarting the console.
2. If restarting the console does not solve the problem, follow this procedure:
* Turn off the console.
* Unplug the AV and power cables from the console.
* Unplug the power brick from your wall outlet.
* Firmly reconnect all cables.
* Turn on the console.
3. If these 3 steps still do not resolve the problem, turn off the console and remove the Hard Drive. If the 3 LEDs no longer flash red now, turn off the console, reconnect the Hard Drive, and start the console.
4. Also check the power brick. When you start the console, the power brick light should turn green, even if the 3 LEDs flash red on the console.

Note: Overheating may be due to a console freeze. Freezes that occur at specific points in the games are usually related to issues caused by the game itself and not overheating.

1. Let the console cool down.
Note: You may need to wait several hours for the console to cool down sufficiently. Do not turn it on while it is still hot.
2. Make sure that the console has adequate ventilation and that the rear fans are working properly.

PREVENTION SUGGESTIONS
To avoid encountering this problem, follow these recommendations:

* Do not obstruct any of the ventilation openings of the console.
* Do not place the Xbox 360 on a bed, couch, carpet, or any other surface likely to block air intake.
* Do not place the XBOX 360 in a confined space, such as under a TV, even if you think it is well-ventilated.
* Do not place the XBOX 360 on or near any heat sources, such as radiators, DVD players, amplifiers, etc...

NEVER PUT YOUR XBOX 360 IN THE FRIDGE OR OUTSIDE IN COLD WEATHER.
Some people think this might help solve an overheating problem, but in reality, it can significantly worsen the issue. Electronic devices like your console are designed to operate at room temperature; extremely cold temperatures can cause as many problems as extremely high temperatures. Thus, if the console operates in an extremely cold environment, the temperature difference between the warm console and the cold air will generate condensation and worsen the situation. In summary: DO NOT DO

The most radical solution to overheating is to improve the cooling system itself. The best solution is to replace the thermal components. If you plan to do this, you do so at your own risk. If the console is still under warranty, it is advisable to contact Microsoft to fix the issue before attempting to resolve it yourself.

Hello, to address the issues of 3 or 4 LEDs, you first need to understand, as boy94450 mentioned in his post, that the console is experiencing overheating or an anomaly with the thermal components or the system.
To begin with, know that 3 LEDs indicate overheating of the internal components of the console, while 4 LEDs indicate a system problem (power supply, AV connection, ...). You will either need to buy the defective components or open the console if you believe you are capable or if it is no longer under warranty (at your own risk).
There are numerous methods online to deal with the 3 LEDs (wrapping the console in a towel for 15 minutes to induce overheating and switch to 2 LEDs, a better fan, ...). However, the most effective solution remains applying new thermal paste to replace the old one, which no longer provides insulation. Thus, in addition, you need to open the device and make the replacement. It is neither complicated nor expensive, but you must keep in mind that you risk damaging it.
For my part, I opened it, replaced the paste because I had tried the towel method, and it froze just 3-4 days later. Good luck.

For your information: never test a console without connecting the cables, as it will inevitably indicate 4 LEDs (system error). And follow boy94450’s advice regarding locations to avoid.

The thermal paste is the one we use for computers. Simply put. However, recently, I have reservations about my method. Because I have issues with my little car. But I will remedy that by taking everything apart again.
