imminent hard drive failure? Solved

Question

Hello,
I have a brand new HP Pavilion, M9170. After a Windows update, I get an error message on startup: "imminent hard disk failure", which forces me to start it manually. It has a three-partition drive originally, two of 465 GB plus the recovery partition. I reinstalled everything, updated the BIOS (5.22), but nothing works. Does anyone have an explanation? Thank you.

Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

apparently, if you have the message in the startup bios saying it's going to fail, it's damaged

back up your data, and buy another hard drive just in case

I have a PC that has the same message, I have to press f2 at startup, but well, it's been 4 months that it's been like this^^
and it's an hp too

I had viruses on partition C, I initiated a normal formatting and after 24 hours it was not finished, so I had to interrupt it. After a restart, I received a message saying that the disk is going to fail imminently.

Hello, I'm not used to posting on forums, but I had the same problem today.
While using it, the PC crashed and as soon as it got to the BIOS, I got the message.
My PC isn't very young...
I turned it off and unplugged the power supply, then I unplugged the "defective" hard drive to plug it back in later.
When I turned the computer back on, the message didn't come back.

This incident happened to me. Without delay, it is necessary to back up, create a restore point on an external drive (do not rely on CHKDSK or defrag), and install a new hard drive. The Seagate brand should be avoided; see studies that show weaknesses in reliability.

The same thing is happening to my Seagate Barracuda that is only 3 years old.
Last year there was already a warning with numerous corrected errors.
The worst part is that I bought the same one (bigger) 2 months ago in anticipation and for more space.

On that note, what tools (please) are available to copy my 2 partitions exactly (especially the system with the same Windows 7 installation)... while there's still time (everything is slow now on my defective HDD)?
