Hello,
I have a problem with my PENTAX IST DL camera: after changing the batteries, when I turned the camera back on, the battery light keeps blinking "no batteries," and since then I haven't been able to turn on my camera.
Has anyone else had this problem?
What should I do?
Thank you for your advice.

Hello,
I just encountered this problem and I searched the forums. In my case, it’s not due to an internal battery (there isn’t one), nor is it a problem with the Eneloop (my *ist has always worked with any battery). I have the (bad?) habit of always removing the batteries from my device when I’m not using it: so I emptied the internal memory. I attempted the last-ditch effort: put in batteries and, most importantly, leave them in! I turned it on from time to time to check and after a few hours: miracle of technology: it’s working again!!!!
It’s definitely worth trying before any disassembly or sending it to customer service!

Hi,
I’m currently having the same problem as you. Were you able to solve it? And how?
Thanks for your help
(I also use alkaline batteries)-
Hello everyone!
I'm experiencing the same issue and after several searches on different forums, it seems there's no answer...
In any case, it doesn't seem to come from the batteries or rechargeable batteries.
I've done several "tests" with different "quality of batteries" (both expensive and inexpensive, rechargeable or not) and the result is the same :(
If anyone finds any information one of these days, please pass it on... ;)
Have a nice day! -

I'll take it apart, but it doesn't seem obvious to me. And a little patience! I just got the optician's screwdrivers and mini-torx.... Well, I just received the IST DL2 I ordered as a replacement (necessary for taking photos!!!). Does anyone know if, basically, there are any differences in settings between the DL and the DL2? I only have the manual for the DL....

Hello friend,
Do you use saline or alkaline batteries? In the first case, replace them with alkaline ones; they are more "durable."
If you are using rechargeable batteries supplied for the device, make sure they are indeed original batteries or from the "manufacturer" brand.
I advise against "cheap exotic rechargeable batteries..." because if they are cheap, it's because:
- They have a shorter lifespan, much shorter than those from the manufacturer.
- They overheat much more than those from the brand.
- There is a risk of overheating, even "exploding," with low-quality batteries, so be careful!
Finally, it should be noted that if they are rechargeable batteries, when the charging indicator shows a "green light," it means that the charge is about 80% full for some of them; You should "continue" charging for a while on "trickle charge" to achieve optimal charging.
Practical detail if you are using your built-in flash, it "consumes" a lot of energy as well, and you will therefore quickly deplete your "batteries"; the same goes for rechargeable batteries, the phenomenon is the same.
Finally, if the "problem" persists with new rechargeable batteries or new alkaline batteries, seek advice from your brand retailer. You can also visit a specialized photography community site:

Glouglou 200 is right. All the parameters (time, settings, ...) are stored in a small permanent INTERNAL memory within the device. This explains why you find your settings back after changing the batteries of the device. I am an amateur electronics enthusiast. This problem just happened to me. I unscrewed a few screws from the bottom of the case, but I wasn't able to unscrew them all. It must be a button cell type, like the ones found in watches. 3V is more than enough for a CMOS memory... As soon as I take off the bottom, I'll take the photos... I promise.

I have the same problem as you... I wonder if there is a grid for the IST?
