Hello,
I bought a SAMSUNG internal hard drive model: HD103UJ, to put in a PEEKTON multimedia enclosure, but the power and "communication" cables are not the right ones (I mistakenly thought they were universal...). Actually, I would like to know more about what I call communication cables and which external hard drive enclosure I could buy that would be compatible with my hard drive...
(Gosh, I'm not clear at all; I don't know the technical terms and I apologize for that...)
Thank you to whoever takes the time to decrypt and respond to me...

I assume your enclosure is an IDE enclosure, while your drive is SATA II.
Here is an example of a SATA II enclosure, among many others:

(Sorry for the commercial link, I wasn't sure how to explain it with another link)

Thank you very much! It confirms what I found... but I wasn't sure...
Last question, how many kinds of "types" of hard drives are there? (If I understood correctly, there are IDE, SATA 2, and ...)
Thanks again! -
Well, like this I would say IDE, SATA, SATA II, and I think that's all

Okay, so for the purchase of a case, is that the only criterion I need to consider? (sataII)
Thank you. -
and the size, 2"5 or 3"5 (2"5 is a small hard drive, the portable hard drives, and 3"5 is for desktops)
after you need to see how you want to connect it to your PC: usb2, firewire, etc...
what's it for exactly that you want an external? just to transport your data, make backups, etc...?
you also need to consider if it's a backup drive or a drive that you will leave plugged in 24/7, whether you need a really well-ventilated case or a standard one

So it's a 3.5.
On USB, mainly for backup (it won't be plugged in 24/7 ...).
What case do you recommend?
Thank you -
