External hard drive compatibility for TNT decoder

Hello,
I bought a 4To Toshiba external hard drive with a USB 3.0 connection to connect it to my CGV Etimo 2T TNT decoder, which has a USB 2.0 port. My decoder does not recognize this drive, which works properly otherwise. I specify that my decoder recognizes my old external hard drive with a USB 2.0 connection. Is there a solution to this problem?
Thank you

Configuration: Android / Chrome 91.0.4472.120

    Hello,

For this case, we need to look into the specific type of drive... Toshiba... Yes of course, but which model... it's like saying: I bought a "Renault"...

    Here is the manual http://www.cgvforum.fr/cgv_labo/pub/notices/Etimo/4NT_Etimo_2T_1f.pdf
see paragraph 5 for the hard drive...

In this manual, there is no mention of USB3 but only of USB2... Normally it should be compatible, but it's possible that this drive only accepts USB3...???

It is also specified to format it on the CGV ... there may be some partition subtleties for example.

It is also very likely that your 4To is not supported by the CGV... especially since its name seems to contain 2T or 2To..?? It is true that there are limits to drive addressing management

Your "decoder/recorder" seems to work with a USB2 drive of more modest volume, I think you should focus more on those points and not try to push the specifications it doesn't have...

    Hello
    probably a partition type issue " MBR /GPT "
your 4 TB disk should be of type " GPT "
and your decoder may only recognize the type " MBR "
    to be checked!

Very good point! It is indeed about the disk format, it must be in MBR to be recognized.

It's been a year since then... a lot must have happened since..!!

You shouldn't get disks of such capacity with TNT decoders... especially ignoring all the specifications.

With this thing on your hands, it should be possible to use it by making several partitions in it...

        For example, 2x2TB

        Good evening,

Yes, but it's looking for trouble for nothing; a 2TB disk, which is also formatted FAT32 because that's the general requirement, seems quite sufficient to me, even if I have to buy a second one later: mine already holds over 300 with an occupation of only 1.37TB.

The notice states: formatting in FAT32 or NTFS ... and it also mentions partitions without giving explanations ... We need to check the disk structure using the "disk manager"

All volumes on this disk must be deleted to start from scratch... Then format it on the CGV, so it will be within the guidelines... if the 4TB are managed in the addressing.
