Hello everyone ...

Here is my problem:
For some time now, my Excel has been disconnecting ... it no longer wants to open existing files directly?
So I have to first launch the Excel program itself and then go to File > Open to access the document I want.

I've been searching, but I can't find the issue!!!

Thanks for the help and for this really great site ...

See you later
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Thank you for your quick response.

I will only try on Tuesday because the computer in question is at work...

Some suggested the hypothesis that Excel was opened too many times in the same day and that it caused the program to bug!!! What do you think, that seems a bit far-fetched to me...

    Hi,

I am experiencing this issue as well when creating a new user profile on machines where Office is already installed. When I double-click on an Excel or Word file, I get a message saying that the file is not present and to check the path.

In the process, the Office installer starts until it asks me for the installation disk, which has obviously been lost...

The workaround I found is to log in to a user account where Office works, export the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office registry branch, and run the generated .reg file from the new profile.

      Hello,

I'm sorry, but I didn't quite understand your solution. If you could be more precise and simpler, as I have some knowledge in computer science, but this is beyond me...

      Thank you, best regards.

Willingly, but I specify that this is only valid if Office works on one user profile and not on another.

1 - Log in with the profile that works
2 - Open the registry editor (Start, Run ... and type: regedit
3 - Click the + next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then Software, then Microsoft and highlight the Office key.
4 - Registry menu ... Export a registry file. Choose a common access path for both users (C:\, USB key, floppy disk, ...) and make sure the "Selected branch" checkbox is checked. Save
5 - Log out and log in with the profile where Office does not launch properly
6 - Double-click the exported file to import it into the new user.

    Hello,

Here is the solution that works:
I was given it on another site....
Thanks anyway for your help and if this can help someone... :

Check under "Tools", "Options", "General" tab that the "Ignore other applications" box is unchecked.
This applies to Excel versions before 2007.
In version 2007, you need to go to "Excel Options", "Advanced Options", "General" and uncheck the box "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange".

    Best regards
