Retrieve data from a mini DVD RW

Hello everyone and especially to... my future savior!!!!!
Let me explain my problem: I have a Sony Handycam camcorder that records on Mini DVD Rw 8.
Last Saturday, I filmed all day at my best friend's wedding, and at 6 PM... the battery died.
On top of that... the camcorder slipped from my hands and fell to the ground... impossible to turn it back on (of course... no battery)
Panicking, I rushed home, plugged it in, and after a good 1 hour and 15 minutes, I started testing.
I had trouble getting the Mini CD compartment to open, but it eventually did, and I noticed that the Mini DVD had shifted a bit and was no longer in the correct position.
When the camcorder itself works perfectly fine for recording new films or watching old ones... EXCEPT: watching this DVD with which I filmed all afternoon.
Nothing works, it doesn't recognize it every time I insert it into the camcorder, nor on a standalone DVD player, nor on my PC....
I tried to finalize it before inserting it into a DVD player, but impossible, my camcorder doesn't recognize it, so the "finalize" option is not available...
So what to do??? Yet it recorded several clips all afternoon!!
How can I access this data without finalizing it...
or....
how to finalize it without inserting it into the camcorder....
It's so important for me to recover what's on there... I was the official "cameraman" for his wedding....
Hello disaster!!!!
If anyone has a tip... I would be eternally grateful!!
Thank you!!
Hope to see you soon............

For not to alarm you if it is not recognized by any reader of any kind then IT'S DEAD and yet it is well engraved I confirm to you because otherwise the readers would tell you that they see it and there is nothing for me it was scratched when it fell.

Well, thank you for the reply. But I'm really disgusted. I really hoped to be able to recover something.....
It was so important....
I'm not quite sure what you mean by Scratcher? but I understand that it's not good...
Thanks again... and see you soon.

Otherwise, you should go to a computer professional.

Yes, I think I’m going to go see a computer repair technician today...
They’re starting to get to know me, a month ago my external hard drive failed... the reading head won’t start anymore, I lost everything, photos, etc... for the past 4 years! They can’t recover anything unless they send it to a clean room... estimate of 1500 euros!

I have bad luck with electronics... that’s for sure!
Yet, to go back to the mini DVD, it burned all day long... so there are indeed data on it!! It just needs to be finalized....
I called the Sony hotline (not very nice) who advised me to try inserting it into an external DVD burner to burn it onto a DVD....
I’m going to suggest the idea to the repair technician and will keep you informed ...
Thanks anyway for your interest in my problem!!
See you later!

Hi there!!
Well, no solution yet
I called Sony and they can't help me
nor can the IT guys in town
yet I'm sure there is a solution
I have put it on hold for now due to lack of time to dedicate to this problem, but I will look into it one of these days!
Let's keep each other posted and help each other out!!!!

Hello

I believe you are using the mini DVD rewrite which you cannot finalize. The best thing is to play your movie from your camcorder and on the other side, record it onto a standalone DVD recorder (for DVD copying). This time, use a non-rewritable DVD. Once you finish your copies, finalize it. You will obtain standard DVD files typically .vob.
To recover the DVD files, get yourself the software to transfer DVD to VCD or SVCD, and you will obtain the video file type .avi.
This time, you can do whatever you want.
See you later.

Hello,

I would like to join this forum because I have a problem and you seem to have the solution. My mini DVD on which I recorded a video is only readable by my camcorder, despite the finalization.
The idea would be to possibly project the video onto my television screen (which is possible) and capture the screen with a home recorder. Is that really possible?? I don’t have a standalone burner, and I don’t know if you can burn from an external source...

Thank you in advance.

Hello!

Thank you for your advice, but the problem is that when I insert it into the camcorder, it doesn't recognize it at all!!!
So it's impossible to play on the camcorder, the CD spins, spins and then is ejected.........

Help!

Hello to you,

I encountered the same problem as you: "official" cameraman for a wedding and issues retrieving videos from my Sony camcorder with my DVD-RWs.
I managed to recover them, I don't know if it will work for you:
- I finalized the DVD that was causing me trouble with my camcorder (in fact, it was showing the DVD as empty in the camcorder)
- then I used the IsoBuster software: I was able to check that it indeed found videos (.VOB in this case), the catch is that extracting the videos is not free: €30, but for videos of close people, I think it's not expensive! There you go, I recovered what I wanted!!

Hello, a friend of mine encountered exactly the same problem..
He just ran a 100 km for the first time with a bike companion to film and take photos..
But the day after the race, there was a problem when finalizing on his camcorder... Major disappointment...

I tried to read the DVD-RW on several devices but to no avail... Either the DVD 'keeps spinning' or the computer considers that there’s no disc..

I just downloaded the software ISOBUSTER on my PC... and in the free version, this software was able to read the DVD quickly because it 'takes' control of the computer's operating system.... however, in order to access what it found and transfer it to the computer, you have to pay...

So I just paid €30 to OBTAIN the key that allows access to the full version... and I was able to recover the photos...

AWESOME ;-)))

Hello, I have the same problem. I bought a mini DVD camera from Canon, and several years later, when I wanted to put my DVDs on my computer, nothing appears anymore. As a result, I've lost my memories of my first baby and even of the marriage proposal. I don't know how to recover them. When I try to read the mini DVDs, they do not appear either on my camera, on my computer, or in a DVD player. Can Isobuster work???
