Hello,
My Mac no longer recognizes the built-in speakers...
I connected an amplifier to my computer to listen to music. I unplugged it, and after that my computer would only give me sound through earphones. When I try to lower or raise the volume, it shows me a prohibited sign... I can still listen to sound with earphones; I also now have a red light at the headphone jack that I didn't have before.
I went to System Preferences -- Sound --- and there in the output tab, only "digital output" is displayed, I have no other choice, and below it says: "the output volume cannot be adjusted on the selected device" (but since I can't select anything else...)
Thank you for helping me; I need it for work and it's really very inconvenient!!!
Thank you all

A big thank you, plugging and unplugging it worked after 8 times, everything is sorted out. Thanks again, a simple and very, very effective tip.
