Hello,
I installed XP in place of Vista on my Toshiba AMD laptop. And since then I have:

TOSHIBA Power Management:
A fatal error has occurred. This program will be closed.
Code 0x7E.

Additionally, in the Device Manager, the SM Bus Controller is not working.

And I noticed that the network port works only half the time.

How can I resolve these problems?
Thank you
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.12

It is possible that when you installed XP, you had to format your hard drive. From there you probably forgot to install a driver. The driver for the bus controller is on the installation CD of your motherboard... if you don't have it, you just need to download it, the same for your network card.
We would need to know which motherboard it is and, boom, you should no longer have any problems.

    Hi there,
So are the Ox7E errors and the SM bus controller related?
However, I don’t have the motherboard installation CD nor network.
    I’m looking on the web.

It's not easy to find drivers on the web
The model is: Toshiba Satellite A210. AMD Turion. Win XP (previously Vista)

you can retrieve the drivers for your card directly from Toshiba's site: http://fr.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=FR

If you're not sure of the model, download EVEREST in the free version, this program will give you all the information you need about your components (including the name of your motherboard).

        Hi,
I downloaded Everest. It gave me my machine's configuration.
I went to toshiba.com but I don't see anything that matches the motherboard drivers.
In fact I don't know which driver to use exactly. Nor what to touch exactly.
        I'm lost.
