Error 1335. The CAB file is corrupted.

Error 1335. The CAB file 'OFFICE1.CAB' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This may be a network error, a CD-ROM read error, or a package-related issue.
I struggled with this problem for 2 days. But once I unchecked the DMA boxes in the Device Manager/Properties/Settings for all drives, there were no more issues with the CAB file.

Hello,
It is about disabling the Direct Memory Access (DMA) controller.
Under XP....
Device Manager. Resource display
Click on the DMA controller.
Disable it at the bottom of the box...
(IMPORTANT....note down the steps to be able to reactivate the DMA controller later).

Best regards and talk soon

I get an error 1335 when trying to Install

Description

Solution

The Windows Installer (registry entries) were corrupted.

Click Start, then Run.

msiexec /unregister then press Enter

msiexec /regserver then press Enter

This will fix the Windows Installer (registry entries).

Zork7544,
.cab files are compressed files...
Check with a compression-decompression utility that supports this very common format to see if you can decompress this file...
If you succeed, it means the file in question isn't as bad as it seems...
To do this preliminary check, you can also use, in the DOS prompt, the extract.exe from DOS... ( .cab files = Microsoft compressed files).
Uncheck the DMA channels.. Clean your CD well and try again.
It's probably just a reading problem...
Otherwise, we will consider other solutions...

Hello Gap

Yesterday, I started to update my McAfee antivirus 6.0.
Everything went fine, then it asked for a reboot of the machine and there was a big problem: Windows starts but it takes at least 20 minutes to open (stuck on the Windows screen).
At that point, I uninstalled McAfee via "Control Panel" and "Add/Remove Programs".
I reinstalled McAfee with the CD-ROM and boom: Error 1335 the file "Data.cab" required for this installation is corrupted.
It's impossible to do a complete reinstallation...

HELP what should I do

Thank you for your help

I'm a beginner in computing so please give me a "step by step"

Hello everyone,

Regarding this 1335 error, you need to carry out several tests because the source of the problem is quite difficult to identify.

You can always check the validity of the RAM with a small testing software called memtest86 v3.0. It runs on a floppy disk or a CD-ROM, just do a search via Google.

Then, if it does not show any errors, download AIDA32; this software will help you correctly identify the components of your computer so you can perform a BIOS update.

If you don't know how to carry out any of these steps, don't hesitate to ask.

See you soon,

Glide

Hi,
This means that one of the files needed for the installation cannot be read.. .cab file = compressed file..
It might be enough to clean the CD-ROM...
If not, you only have to try to get another one from the software publisher...

Good luck or good fortune and see you later

Hello everyone
I also have a .cab file problem
Indeed, I wanted to reinstall Office XP and it seems that this file is causing issues
I've seen that some people talk about unchecking DMA boxes. I couldn't find where that is done. Can someone help me?

Thank you in advance

It actually depends on the version of Windows you are using.

Hello,
I'm taking advantage of you being online; it's 1:35 AM for me in Mexico, and I've been struggling for 15 days with a dinput8.dll problem..... I have no one to help me!!
As soon as I try to open my game, a message says it cannot find the file named dinput8.dll
I downloaded it from the Dell website, but nothing works!!!
I don’t have a sound card; is that related?
I extracted it from WinZip, and in the end, I see readme in the location and nothing else.
Thank you for helping me, I can’t take it anymore; I’m pulling my hair out!!!!
Thanks,
Rodo

Hi Rodo,
So let's start from the beginning, you need to know which version of Windows you're using,...

Then, well in that case it's not too serious...
Indeed, dinput8.dll is a file necessary for DirectX and here we assume it's version 8 of our dear friend DirectX that is required

Here’s where you can find the information regarding the DLL:

http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/dlllibrary/dinput8/

So I recommend installing DirectX version 8.

By the way, regarding your machine, in principle Dell provides support...
But in my great magnanimity, I'll spare you and so if installing DirectX doesn’t work, don’t pull your hair out anymore (you're almost bald there o) ... ) Get back to me again.

Do you know why when I try to install a game and when it extracts the files at the beginning it says: Zip damaged: file, Bad 'CRC' 13586ecb (should be 21f078e0). Possible cause: file transfer error..... it says this for every .cab file...

Thank you in advance..
MaX.

Hello Winwince,
First of all, thank you for helping others.
I have Windows ME
I added 64MB + 256MB of memory
Due to a problem with the McAfee 6.0 update I can no longer reinstall it, of course "error 1335 damaged cab file."
McAfee responds, "we can't help you anymore."
I ran the MEMTEST as per your advice. 484 cycles analyzed 273% = 17 errors.
Do you think the first solution is to exchange the memory sticks? The last one is only a few months old. I'm not computer-savvy, thank you if you can respond to me.
Jacques.

Hi Jacques,
Your RAM is clearly having issues..
Is your addition consistent with what you already had: type, frequency..?
What do the BIOS and inventory tools say about your RAM configuration?

Best regards and see you soon

Hello,

I had the same problem. See
http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-285272-Erreur-1335-R%E9install-avec-fichier-CAB-impos

A brief summary:
I could never install MS Office because of this error 1335.

At first, I thought that the MS Office version was being rejected by Windows because I had a legal Windows and a pirated MS Office! Legalizing MS Office didn’t change anything.

Then, I realized that I could neither read DVDs properly nor copy files without crashing. Over time, it got worse when it came to copying files. Initially, large batches of files were uncopyable, but that size diminished drastically!

Finally, I had to test each component on another machine. And thus the culprit was the faulty motherboard.

Therefore, if you can, I recommend:
1) test the CD on another machine to see if it’s damaged,
2) test each hardware component.

Adissiats !-)))

Toco y se gausos !!!

It's me again!
I disabled it like you told me, but the error "1311" office1.cab is still there. However, I uninstalled everything and started over, but it didn't change anything. Do you have a solution?
Thank you.

re..Kelkel,
I see only 2 other explanations..
A "tired" RAM or a defective motherboard (as Teutates suggested).
Start by testing your RAM with Memtest.
Memtest can be downloaded from the link:

Solution that I found for my part:
According to Krosoft, the only solution is to completely copy the CD onto the HDD (Q299774 and Q314810). However, I managed to work around the problem by modifying my local security settings (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Security Options > Device: Allow access to the CD-ROM only for users logged on locally = Disabled). Once this security was disabled, everything was fine; this is linked to similar issues during network installations. I haven't tested it at home, but using Run instead of launching the CD directly could also resolve the issue (it works for fixing network installations).

Thank you for responding to my message, but I can't find the path you indicated to disable the option you mentioned. I can't find Local Security Policy in Administrative Tools. Where is it? How do I do it? Thanks in advance. If this could solve my problem, it would really help me since I need it terribly.
