Hello, my recorder shows an error hdd message on startup and blocks operation.
I have tried all the possibilities offered by the manual but nothing happens.
Please, if you know the solution, I thank you.
(Here are the symptoms: - on startup, the loading is abnormally long and a gurgling sound can be heard, the device turns off and then on again
- or the device loads after a long time and indicates error hdd
Thank you for your attention

I have partially resolved the blocking issue that occurred after I connected a new HD TV. I connected the 725 to the regular antenna, and for the past two months, there have been no problems, except that I can no longer record from the new TV, or only by doing a process that isn’t very straightforward. So apparently, the issue must stem from a signal coming from the scart connection of the new HD TV that is interfering with the recorder. You can still try it out.

Hi
go check on Sony's website and see if your device has had any known issues with Sony.
Sometimes Sony repairs for free (which happened to me). -
Hello, is your player still under warranty? If so, send it back to customer service, I would say your problem comes from your DVD player that does not detect your DVDs.

Hello
The only solution is to take the device back to customer service.
Since July 2006, when I purchased my first device, I am now on my second one, which replaced the first that went for repair three times, and this second one is again in customer service,
each time for an uncontrollable system freeze.
Gentlemen,
On 01/07/2006 I purchased a DVDR recorder RDR-HX725S at the BUT store in Saint-Quentin, 02100.
It turns out that as early as December 2006, the device was defective, as confirmed by the salesperson from customer service (displaying “power welcome” + inactive remote control); the only way to control it was to unplug it.
This device went for repair.
Two months after that intervention, in March 2007, the same defect occurred again (new intervention!).
In July 2007, the same issue happened again, which you claimed was due to a faulty device number.
This device was replaced on July 13 with your assurance of its reliability.
This device worked fine until last night when the same defect happened again.
I find this to be quite excessive, especially since the warranty is ongoing.
What do you have to say regarding all these incidents?
I hope to hear back from you.
Best regards,
J. Phoyu
Hello,
Following the email above, to which your customer service deemed it fit not to respond, as confirmed during its phone call on 28/3 in response to this letter. I was promised that this email would be forwarded to a technician who was supposed to call me, but no follow-up took place.
I observe the little seriousness in your services that seem unconcerned about the troubles your customers are experiencing.
Even today, I contacted you again to report the same problems that I had again experienced, and your only response was to advise me to bring my device for repair and to provide you with the intervention report, which would add to the three previous interventions on a device that has been replaced and has suffered the same malfunctions.
I believe this is a series of devices whose lack of reliability you cannot ignore, and I am certainly not the only one suffering the consequences.
Given the current situation, I believe that a brand such as yours should decide to recall these devices that you are fully aware are at risk and which you refuse to acknowledge, at the expense of the users.
I hope you will make a sensible decision.
Best regards,

Hello, I have a problem with my Sony RDR-HX725 recorder; I can no longer turn it on. The on/off button does not respond. Moreover, it powers on by itself and then turns off immediately. This problem disappears after I unplug it for a few hours until it loses the clock memory. Can anyone help me?
Good evening everyone.
For a month, I have exactly the same problem with the same recorder. On average once a week, here’s what I find when I come home from work: the “timer rec” light is off (despite a program being set), it turns on (or rather tries to start) by itself, it "grinds," lights up the HDD or DVD indicator, lights up the "timer rec," and then ... it’s a disaster! The "timer rec" turns off (it stayed on for less than a second) and displays "power off". Thirty seconds later, it tries to turn back on ... until my patience runs out. During this whole circus, the remote control and the controls on the recorder are unresponsive. However, you can still eject a disc using the procedure described in the manual (unplug and replug the power cord while pressing 'eject'). If I leave it unplugged overnight, it starts up normally in the morning. Thanks, Sony, by the way, for including a backup of the programming in case of power cuts!
Picart, have you solved the problem? Are we the only ones who bought a haunted recorder? In the absence of a firmware update, is there an exorcism ritual?
By the way, I have seen posts about the spontaneous startup of the fan and hard disk... several reasons: the guide+ loading, channel scanning for the PDC/VPS function, time setting... see p. 123 of the manual.

Hello everyone!
Anyway, it was a good device, but let's face it, I got a bad batch... Warranty, you say??? Hard to claim when you've lost the receipt.... and given the previous messages, Sony would replace the hard disk after two months, and in the end, I'd still have the same problems... So, do you think... the case is hopeless, right???
I’m in the same boat except I kept the receipt.
The recorder started malfunctioning after about 3 to 4 months. Today, I’m on my fourth return to customer service. On the first three returns, it stayed over a month in customer service, had 2 hard disk replacements, and still the same problems: HDD ERROR then recorder stuck...
I even contacted Sony's customer service without success.
During this fourth return, I requested a device return; we’ll see what happens. In any case, I won’t buy any Sony device again.

Hello everyone
I think my recorder has died.
When I plug it in, it turns on and off by itself continuously (Welcome - Load - Power Off sequence)
Does anyone know this problem? Is there a solution before going to customer service?

sorry enzo 36 I tried, but the remote control doesn’t work at all on the player; I can’t access its menu. Is there a way to manually reset the reader's settings?

Oh well, mine does the same thing... check my post a little higher for other symptoms... Do you try to turn it back on once it has gone into standby after its "Power Off"? That's what I do, and then (after about a minute) I can use it.
Otherwise, try a reset by pressing the On/Off button for 10 seconds, and if that doesn't work => customer service right away.
Really, Sony messed up with this model. Even if this technology is not yet "mature," Sony has completely tangled things up.

you are lucky; mine is still the same. <<

The night of rest means unplugged; have you tried?
heikichi nagasato Posted on 20-09-2007 at 13:34:34
yes, it has been 48 hours since it has been unplugged ^^ but actually when I made the wrong manipulation on the mode change menu, I thought it was stuck, so I turned it off; I don't know if that is the cause, but I'm just mentioning it. ^^

Lucky you.... mine is still malfunctioning. I can only access the already recorded content on the hard drive one out of four times, and I still can’t record...

Hello
The only solution is to take the device back to the customer service.
Since July 2006, when I purchased my first device, I have had a second one that replaced the first which went to the repair station three times and this second one is in customer service again,
Each time for uncontrollable system blockage.

In July 2007, the same malfunction returned which you attributed to a faulty device number.
This device was replaced for me on July 13, with your assurance of its reliability.
This device worked properly until last night when the same malfunction occurred again.
I find this to be quite excessive considering the warranty is running.

Hello,
Following the above email which your consumer service deemed not worth responding to, as confirmed during their phone call on 28/3 in response to this letter. I had been promised that this email would be forwarded to a technician who was supposed to call me, but no further action has followed.
I notice the lack of seriousness in your services which seem little concerned about the troubles your customers are facing.
Even today, I contacted you to report the same issues of which I was again a victim, and your only response was to advise me to take my device in for repair and to provide you with the intervention report, which would be added to the three previous interventions on a device that has been replaced and has experienced the same dysfunctions.
I believe that this is a series of devices whose reliability issues you cannot ignore, of which I am a victim, and I am certainly not the only one to suffer the consequences.
As the situation stands, I believe that a brand like yours should decide to take back these devices that you know are inherently faulty but do not want to acknowledge, at the expense of the users.
Hoping that you will make a reasonable decision
I remain, gentlemen, yours sincerely
