Hello,
I am a former student of IPREC and I am very happy to have completed my TSMIR training there last year 2007 (graduating class 33 exactly if anyone doubts it)
When I graduated, I took 2 weeks to find the job I wanted with 2500 euros net as a beginner just 20 minutes from my home (Unix Admin)
Like everything, you need to give of yourself (studying at home of course) to keep up.
ZAMO's comment makes me rather laugh, he must not have understood anything and must have been lost and/or too distracted on MSN!!!!!
The trainers are very competent and give a lot of their time to motivated students.
As an intern said, they go straight to the point to explain and I really enjoyed the metaphors used by the trainers to help us understand better, especially those of Vincent!
I highly recommend this center only to motivated individuals (who redo the practical exercises at home, the secret to success)
See you!

ok you're paid for that? advertising is expensive, you know?
Iprec: small organization, tailored training, no unnecessary training, gets to the point, very satisfied.
Hi,
I am currently training as a computer technician at AFPA in Belfort, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone; it's self-study. The only practical work I've done is disassembling a Pentium II. And all the trainees are not proud to be in this program. In fact, I have serious doubts about my training.

Hello,
I have been in AFPA training for almost 2 months now.
We have seen the "teacher" 2 weeks in 2 months...
The teacher has his own business and is therefore not often present.
Hours spent in front of a computer, browsing the internet...
Handouts to read and bring home as souvenirs.
We can arrive late because there is no one to check.
We can also leave early.
A project to do on the history of computing...
3 weeks to complete it when it should have taken barely 2 days,
naturally through copy/pasting from the internet.
After a typical training session, then, for the trainees, it's
back to square one, the unemployment office... afterwards.
AFPA... is a state organization that works with the unemployment office
to reduce the number of unemployed people on the lists.
Nothing more.
To learn computing, you need to do... something else.
Good luck!
Best regards.

You can if you have a background in IT.
But the required level is the high school diploma.
Entry QCM test.
Then, if you pass, you have an interview with the director and the trainers.
It's at that moment that you'll know if you're accepted or not.......
Good luck
P.S.: Nothing ventured, nothing gained...........

Hello everyone,
To give you some information about these training programs, I completed both at Gefi and Iprec.
I would say that at Gefi, it's mostly theory with a computer test at the end of each module. Very little practical work until the end. But, it's still a serious training center with job search assistance at the end of the course.
And at Iprec, it's the exact opposite. A fair amount of practical work mixed with theory. It's a fairly small center with friendly trainers and a good atmosphere. However, there's little help with job searching.
For my part, I received both diplomas, but let's not get carried away. Most job offers revolve around the minimum wage with not-so-great jobs like: unplugging computers and plugging them elsewhere, hotline at an internet service provider, etc...
Fine for a first job, but if it's to build a life on that...

Hello unknown.
I disagree with you on the remuneration for this type of diploma!!!!
Are you kidding or what??!!! You said the minimum wage!!!
It's pretty ridiculous to say that, okay for the hotline it's quite poorly paid around 1300 net without looking too far.
But 1300 net without professional experience in IT, just out of school, is rather a good start and not the minimum wage (minimum wage is about 950 euros).
But as I said, you have to work from home because not all students graduate with the same level.
Some will earn a better living than others (result of the work done at home).
It's true that someone from my class has kept their old job:
But that's normal, they're not motivated and not very skilled.
Regarding job hunting, it's not great but that's not the primary goal of the training.
Moreover, you just have to post your CV on Monster for example, and I'll give you 3 weeks maximum and you'll be employed. (Just a heads up, I had to change my phone number due to harassment from recruiters.....).
Thanks for your opinion on gefi.

"Okay for the hotline, it's rather poorly paid, about 1300 net without looking too far."
"1300 net, you're generous... I'd say more like 1100 net..."
"And I've already done jobs for 1050 net in tech... I was even offered 1350 gross once... And at a temp agency (high-tech temp, just to name them), I told them 1500 net as my salary expectation and he almost choked. And yet I'm not a slouch in tech..."
"Monster... Yeah, I admit you often get harassed with calls for precarious jobs because recruiters checking resumes on Monster can't find candidates for their jobs, you know... often in poorly paid hotline roles."
"And I know a lot who share my opinion. Just look at the reviews from techs on IT service companies."
