Hello, can someone clarify what type of cord (connection) I need to use with a Samsung 8mm analog camcorder model VP A12 PAL to connect it directly to my PC, which has Firewire and S-Video connections, in order to digitize my films? Thank you in advance for your help.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello
If your camcorder has a DV port, it's the best transfer solution to the PC via its Firewire port
Best regards

Good evening, no, that's precisely my problem; it seems that on my Samsung camcorder, I can only connect one jack type: one white for audio, one yellow for video, and another in the middle where it says DC OUT!?!
Hello
This is an analog connection.
If these are "output" ports, then you must use a capture card to perform digitization and compression operations.
You can find them at Pinnacle.
There are internal ones (PCI connector) and external boxes that connect to the PC via USB.

Thank you, JC. What I assume is that my PC (HP Pavilion) has the necessary ports since it has various USB, S-Video, and FireWire connections. Am I correct in my assumption?
I'll ask my question differently: I have another digital camcorder, a Canon, and I can capture the films directly by connecting it to my computer with a FireWire IEEE1394 cable, and it works automatically with my Magic Video Deluxe software. The user manual for this software states that I can also capture analog sources. So my question is whether I can do the same thing with my Samsung as I can with my Canon, that is, connect my analog camcorder directly to my computer and if so, with what type of connection cable, both ends of which need to be different? Thank you again.
