Hello, I have a SAMSUNG VPD 351 camcorder that I've had for a year and a half, and for the past five months, the 2.5" screen has been showing horizontal stripes... the device is no longer under warranty, and if I take it for repair, there's a €30 estimate + I'm afraid they might change the screen, and I have no idea how much a 2.5'' camcorder screen costs, but in my opinion, it's very expensive compared to the camcorder's price...;
the camcorder still works, but it's not practical: to film, you have to squint your eye at the viewfinder, and the same goes for watching a film... can someone enlighten me on this type of malfunction? Is it necessary to change the screen? How much does such a screen cost? Thanks a thousand!

Hello, I'm back from my trip, and I have a problem with my camcorder VP D351: the LCD screen has been getting worse and then it stopped working completely... since the device is no longer under warranty, I opened it with the help of an electrician, and he diagnosed that the ribbon connecting the LCD screen to the camcorder (the electronic connection that allows the screen to pivot) is cut, so there's no data transmission... after repeatedly opening and closing the LCD screen, the ribbon has been severed... I'm therefore looking to find this ribbon.
Hello,
Indeed, you practically have to dismantle everything as explained above by almost everyone. You have to take it slow in order not to break anything and don’t hesitate to take photos of each step for reassembly (I didn't do that and I missed it).
Good luck, and I'm here if I can help.
Best regards.
Dominique.

Hello,
can you tell me which screw exactly needs to be removed to take out the famous cable!!! Thanks for your help...

Hello
There are about twenty screws to remove.
You need to remove all the screws around the device on the side of the screw and not on the cassette insertion side.
Then remove the plate containing the zoom button as one screw is hidden underneath.
Remove the upper cover (the gray cover marked X20 of the viewfinder) as one screw is hidden underneath.
At this point, separate the part containing the screen and the control (left side from the back of the viewfinder)
You need to disconnect the white ribbon cable
Disconnect the screen ribbon cable
There are still a few screws to remove
Remove the 2 screws that allow you to take off the cover of the axis at the hinge screw
You need to remove the screws holding the screen hinge axis
There are 2 screws hidden under a small piece of plastic (near the rotation axis)
Then there are the 2 screws that allow you to open the screen part.
Separate the 2 parts by gently sliding a knife blade.
Never force it; everything should be done gently
Be careful to properly mark the screws as indicated in my previous message
Good luck

Well then, that's it.
I've found out how to take everything apart without breaking anything (it clips in and unclips DELICATELY).
Once again, kudos to Enrique Depannage for the quick delivery of the ribbon cable and the attached photos for disassembling the thing.
-> These engineers are really useless though, now I have a bunch of extra screws, well I shouldn't have optimized the camcorder! ! !

Hello
I no longer have the reference for the ribbon cable
you can get it by providing the reference of your camcorder and asking for the connection ribbon cable between the motherboard and the LCD screen. (there's only one that makes this connection, so no chance of error).
However, putting it in is tricky. You need to position it around an axis. There are reinforcements (thicker) on this ribbon.
position them correctly or else...
advice: don't remove the defective ribbon immediately and try to shape your new ribbon around a pen (it starts off flat) be careful with the direction of winding.
bye

Hello everyone,
I still haven't received anything, and I haven't received any response to my emails,
for those who ordered this tablecloth from Enrique, did you wait long?
thank you, and I will keep you updated if I have any news.

I won't give up
I just called Setelec, so I'm reconfirming and here are the explanations I was given.
The price of this ribbon on the site is over 30 euros however if the request for this part is made by email, the price is now 13.88 euros + 8 euros for shipping fees.
It's a different manufacturer but the part is identical to the original.
Payment must be made before the part is sent.
The reference for this ribbon is AD97-064-89A
There you go, happy fixing everyone!

Same problem for me...
Another solution (not very practical): rotate the screen and close it against the camcorder... the image is then normally visible again on the side of the camcorder. Mine has been working like that for a year without any issues...

Hi Lilou
The problem doesn't come from your screen, it's rather the reading (and recording) head that is dirty or slightly misaligned. Has your device received a shock? So either you gently tap it during playback until the picture returns to normal. Otherwise, clean the head with a cleaning cassette, they are sold commercially. Try that first. @+

hello !! for my part, thanks to micrometric screwdrivers and a lot of patience, I removed the LCD screen from the camcorder (you have to unscrew almost all the screws you see, the gray and black ones)... and for now, I haven't disconnected the screen ribbon yet... I'm waiting to find the part....

Hello, I have the same problem as you and congratulations on the diagnosis.
For me, it's with a Samsung VP-D353I and the screen has turned completely white. It's been 14 months, good job Samsung!
But the camera works properly through the small viewfinder, which is totally crappy for filming.
I think I'm going to try your disassembly. But I didn't quite understand if I need to disassemble everything or just the screen.
Thank you.
I will check with Samsung to see if I can find out how much it really costs for repair?
Thank you for your clarifications on the disassembly?

Hello, I was looking for how to troubleshoot my Samsung VPD351i camcorder when I came across this forum. Would you still be able to let me know how to order a ribbon cable? Because I do indeed have the same issue with the cut-off (no more screen, I opened it). Thank you in advance.
Hello everyone,
I am also part of the club "mon_vpd_351_a_l'ecran_lcd_tout_blanc". I received the ribbon cable from Enrique Depannage (kudos again, ordered Tuesday night, received Thursday morning).
The problem is, I don't know how to remove this ribbon cable from the white connectors on the motherboard, I don't want to force anything.
What exactly is the procedure to follow?
Thanks in advance.

I'm in, and indeed the first problem was to get all the mats out without forcing.
The big mats are easy to remove, but for the small ones, it took me a while to understand that you have to pull the small black spikes outward to free up space for the mat to come out.
ABOVE ALL, TAKE PHOTOS OF THE MAT AT THE END BECAUSE THE ROLLING UP IS VERY COMPLICATED AND MESSY.
I spent 2 hours putting it back together.

Hello, I was looking for a way to fix my camcorder when I came across the forum. My screen also turned completely white after 16 months for the vp-d355. I think it's a manufacturing defect because the problem is very widespread and won’t be solved even by changing the ribbon cable (if I have to change the ribbon cable every year, the camcorder is going to cost me a lot). It will be partially resolved until the next time, but I still don’t know if I should repair it or replace it, making sure not to get a Samsung again!
Thank you for all this information because I thought it was the screen, so it reassures me to know that it's just the ribbon cable!
Steph

WELL, I NEED TO POINT OUT THAT THE SCREEN CABLE OF THESE DAMN SAMSUNG CAMERAS IS NOT EASY TO CHANGE.
I spent 4 hours and my camcorder no longer works. Don't dive in if you don't feel capable.
You have to dismantle everything and take a picture of each screw you remove in order to remember the assembly order.
The screen cable is wound around itself on an axis and it's not easy to put the new cable back in place.
The problem was removing the other cables... and I struggled and damaged the central viewfinder cable.
Anyway, one piece of advice: Don't buy Samsung...
GOOD LUCK
