installing XP on TOSHIBA SATELLITE P200-1BV Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,

My problem concerns a Toshiba SATELLITE P200 1BV - PSPB6,
The HDD is not recognized during the installation of XP, I have already tried to include the RAID driver provided by Toshiba, but no results....
I want to access the BIOS to configure the function that is blocking me, but I can't manage to do it (I press F2 and I get the "shallow" BIOS, I can only set the date, time, boot....)

The BIOS is a "Phoenix Trustedcore" version 1.9

The best solution is to integrate the SATA drivers into the CD as you did, but I think you might have used the wrong drivers.
Tell me more about the drivers you tried to integrate and how you went about it. In the meantime, I'll try to find what you need.
Otherwise, going into the BIOS to recognize your SATA controller as an IDE, I'm not sure you have that option in the BIOS; personally, I don't have it :/

I integrated the Toshiba RAID driver (it's the one for the Portégé, I called them) into the Windows CD by removing all the SATA drivers from XP,
then I tried to put it on a floppy disk (with a USB floppy drive) by pressing F6 at the start of the install.
The RAID driver is loaded correctly but XP cannot find any HDD.
I want to disable the "native SATA" function in the BIOS but I can't find it!!!! THE BIOS IS HIDDEN, that's why I'm asking for the trick to access it!!

This is the RAID driver for the Toshiba PORTEGE M400, but I couldn't find it on the Toshiba website... strange
The files are:
- KR10I or KR10N
- KR10I or KR10N .inf
- KR10I or KR10N safety catalog
- KR10I2K or KR10N2K system file
- TXTSETUP.OEM

I removed the RAID drivers included in the XP CD and then I added the RAID drivers
Given the result, I got a USB floppy drive, launched the Windows CD, and then pressed F6, and I managed to load these drivers, but the result was the same.

Well, I suggest you take the drivers mentioned in post no. 5 and do exactly as per the tutorial I indicated in the same post without adding or removing anything else to your CD (however, start with an original CD base).

Yes, it's with TOSHIBA. They don't want the PCs sold with Vista to switch back to XP.
I know I need to disable the "AHCI" feature in the BIOS, but this feature doesn't appear!!
I have another laptop (MSI GX700) that came with Vista, but there I didn't have any problems switching back to XP.
Once on XP, I went into the BIOS where this feature appeared and I activated it. As a result, I crashed my MSI, so I know that I need to disable this feature for XP.

Hi to you tomsawyerdu61,

I just installed XP thanks to the SATA integration driver (SATA AHCI). The PC is running without bugs. For your information, I confirm that you need to DISABLE the AHCI function in the BIOS and, in my case for example, if the function is not in the BIOS you need to integrate the SATA AHCI driver (in post 5, link no. 1) which disables it.

Once again, a HUGE THANK YOU for your help. 3 months of hassle, I should have posted sooner.....

Well, actually your driver that I loaded will modify the value of the "AHCI" function in the hidden BIOS that is not accessible to the user.
In my BIOS, only the settings for date, time, HDD, boot sequence, BIOS and HDD password appear. I'm not a computer scientist, and yet I know that the PC cannot run with just these parameters; it needs other more important functions such as RAM frequency settings, etc. So to conclude, I would say that some manufacturers block access to certain BIOS functions so that savvy users can't revert to XP.

I'm just correcting this to prevent others from searching like you for three months for some so-called hidden option in the BIOS :/ I think you will understand. :) --   The important thing is to keep your feet on the ground.

Gentilgremlin => if you want the AHCI integration driver, click on the tutorial link number 5 or go to the Toshiba website to download the driver called "Intel Storage Manager". Then, once you have the folder, open it and go to => Intel Storage Manager/F6flpy/ICH8M_32bit. (if you are on 32 bit version, otherwise take the 64 bit folder, mine is 32 bit)  Then I kept it simple: - copy the files from the folder onto a floppy disk - connect a floppy drive to the PC (via USB) - start your PC and press F12 to choose the boot device - select your CD drive - insert your original Windows CD and press F6 at the start of the Windows file copying (it's written at the bottom of the screen) - Windows will ask you which driver you want to integrate, choose the driver "SATA AHCI CONTROLLER" or something similar - If you follow this procedure, your Windows will detect your SATA hard drive and your installation will continue, it works perfectly for me.   Little tip: you need to delete all existing partitions when Windows asks on which partition to install, otherwise I think it will mess up your installation. I removed the drive from the laptop to connect it to a desktop PC, then I deleted the partitions.   If I'm not mistaken, just follow the procedure and everything will go smoothly.   Tomsawyerdu61 correct me if I made any mistakes, thanks.   Hoping you succeed :)

I went to buy one (about 40€) because with nlite it messes up the copying of Windows files, and by ignoring the file I can't get the sound even though the sound drivers are installed. So I prefer to have a floppy disk drive because in the end it's just as fast...  Thanks anyway for your correction which apparently isn't too bothersome.

Me, you know if I recommend this method it's just that it's the most accessible (in my opinion). But now, if we prefer to buy a floppy disk drive and do it the old-fashioned way, why not! I didn't have any copy errors on my hard drive and I tried on 2 different CD-RWs at the lowest burning speed to avoid problems, but I always had 1 file that couldn't be copied (a .dll file that I later copied to put on the laptop). In my opinion, it comes from my use of nLite.... I'm going to run some more tests.

If I understand correctly, you had a problem while copying the files to your hard drive? Then you added the problematic file to the nlite folder and once that was done, you recompiled your ISO with nlite and then burnt it and installed it, which as you said did not cause any problems. --   What's important is to keep your feet on the ground.

Actually, I made a folder with my original Windows files, then I integrated my updates and made my settings. I tested my nLite installation with the ISO and it works. (This installation I did well before, it's not the one for the AHCI driver) But then I copied the original Windows files and not the files modified by nLite (I made 2 folders to be precise, it avoids copying the CD 10 times) and I made the CD with nLite to integrate the AHCI driver. And that's where my problems arise: when I launch the installation with the CD, Windows can't copy a .dll file (which is not the sound driver one) so I copied the missing file from another machine to put it in the Windows once it's installed on the PC. That's why I tell you that it comes from my handling with nLite, I made a mistake but where??!!!?? I will eventually find out....
