Hello everyone!
Subject of the problem: Microphone gain is way too low
Comment: This topic has been discussed many times before, but none of the given solutions have fixed my issue
Details of the problem: I have to speak very loudly into my microphone for anyone to hear me properly.
I cannot access the "Advanced" settings of the microphone, and thus can't "amplify the gain" (also known as Mic Boost).
My hardware: -> Microphone: Standard Trust to be plugged into the microphone jack
-> Motherboard: Dell Inspiron 6000 (ID: <DMI>)
-> Audio device: Intel 82801FBM ICH6-M - AC'97 Audio Controller [B-1] (Type: PCI)
-> Direct X Sound: SigmaTel C-Major Audio
(Information obtained using Everest Home Edition, as I believe this is the only relevant information for solving the problem)
Comment: I have installed the latest Sigmatel driver and updated my motherboard.
Conclusion: I still cannot increase the gain of my brand new microphone :( ! What should I do please?
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read and think of a solution, or not :).Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

/!\ Problem solved /!\
It just goes to show that when you think you've tried everything and searched high and low...
So, well, I've found the solution to my problem and I’m going to explain it, maybe it could help some of you who stumble over the same issue!
So: -> Control Panel
-> Sound and Audio Devices
-> "Audio" tab
-> Volume in the "Audio Recording" category (My "Advanced" box is greyed out, but I don't need it after all)
-> Set the microphone volume to maximum and click on "Advanced"
-> Check "1 Microphone Amplifier"
Hoping this helps some of you who, like me, didn’t search enough before asking :P.
Sincerely,
ElfloY.

Yes, as you said, I confirm, I too thought I had searched and I couldn't remember where this famous "micro boost" was because the "Advanced" button in this "Recording Control" window only appears if you go to the menu - Options -> Advanced. Then I selected: 1 - Mic Boost and miracle ;-)
Thanks to people like you who take the time to post feedback
