The Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition

Hello,
I would like to buy the extended version of The Lord of the Rings, but it's only available on 12 DVDs and it's expensive.

I want to find it without the bonuses; I think I found it on Pixmania, but I'm not sure it's the right one.
Thanks for the confirmation; otherwise, if there are other sites that offer it at a good price...

(I wanted to get them on Blu-ray or HD DVD, but they don't exist)

Last question: is the cinema version the extended one or not?? I haven't seen it on the big screen.

    Hello!

    I can help you with a few points: The versions in theaters are the short versions.
    On DVD, the long versions take 2 discs (that's a good way to know if they're long or not).
    And to find them, you can check on eBay; I think you could find them without the bonuses.

    Indeed, I bought the extended editions of boxes 2 and 3, each containing a figurine for 19.90 euros at Fnac... But I can't find the extended edition of The Fellowship of the Ring anywhere.

      Hello!

      If you're still interested in the collector's edition box set of The Fellowship of the Ring extended version with the 2 figurines, I'm letting it go for €50 (I paid €75 several years ago at the time of its release), because I received the same one a week later for Christmas (grrrrr). It's brand new! Apparently, it’s sold out and rare to find, and some people are selling it for more, but I don't have much time to deal with that!

      I live in Nice and since I posted this, I have to confess that I received several emails from people willing to pay more than the asking price. Apparently, this box set is so rare that it sells for more than the original price upon release...

      I know I indicated €50, but since I need money, I won't refuse the highest offer... what is your maximum budget for this purchase?

    I want to tell you that the extended editions are no longer that expensive compared to the original 45 euros I paid when they were released. Check on Fnac for example if you hurry because they are priced green, and I don't know how long they will stay that way, but there’s The Return of the King and The Two Towers for 20 euros! I didn't find The Fellowship of the Ring for 20 euros, but otherwise, you have the figurines included:

    I'm desperately looking for the Lord of the Rings box set with the figurines. I had a false hope from Fnac on their website last week, but in the end, they don't have it anymore either, and I can't find it anywhere... Do you have any leads to give me??     They brought it back to FNAC, at €26 with free shipping. The real box set of The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring - Extended Edition - 4 DVD box set with the 2 statues of the Argonath.

    Take advantage of it, as it is unlikely to be available for long.
    However, they warn us that there is a delivery delay of 2 to 3 weeks.

    The technique of FNAC is to sell off stock slowly. The offer is available for only 2-3 days, then it disappears for 3 weeks.

    Don't forget that the original price of this box set was €75. ;)

    The value of the trilogy in the prestigious box set fluctuates depending on FNAC's availability. (It must be said that they are the ones who "call the shots").

    • The value of "The Fellowship of the Ring" hovers around €50, with spikes up to €75 during times of great shortages at FNAC, as it was the first to sell out. Indeed, I've seen people selling it for more than the purchase price, but honestly, patience always pays off.
    I've been fighting for 3 months to get it, refusing offers even at €46 (I’m a student and short on cash), and now I've found it at FNAC for €26. :)

    There is the long version in a 12 DVD box set that was released in 2004, which is a bit expensive, and in 2007 or 2008, I saw individual DVDs (20 €) where there is a single double-sided DVD with the long and short versions.

    On alapage.com you can find a box set of The Return of the King 2 DVDs (but both the extended and theatrical versions) for €19.98, but I don't know if there are any left because it's a limited release. You can also find the same 2 DVD box sets of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King on chapitre.com for the same price each.

    I think that for the longer versions, there is only the one with 4 DVDs, 2 for the movie and 2 for the extras!
