AutoCAD: Dynamic Panning with Mouse Wheel.

Solved

Hello,

The "dynamic panning" function by pressing the mouse wheel (the little hand that allows you to move the drawing)
is no longer working... I have a Microsoft Intellipoint 5.0 (Wireless optical mouse 2) and Autocad 2004.
I have tried the system variables such as "MBUTTONPAN" set to (1) or (0), but nothing seems to help...
All of this on Windows XP Pro with SP 2.

The mouse drivers seem to be properly installed, and "I can no longer" take the command from the icon each time I want to move on the drawing...

If you know this issue, I would be extremely grateful if you could indicate the remedy...

Thank you in advance.

    Hello Dr. Charles,

I just had the same problem and solved it thanks to Pat Hate's remark.
Actually, you need to go into the software configuration for your mouse provided with your mouse installation CD.

There, you should be able to set the wheel as the middle button or the third button.
At first, mine was configured for auto-scroll, and after I set it to the middle button, the "dynamic panning" function is operational again via the wheel.

    Best,

Hello everyone. The same problem happened to me. I tried all the solutions proposed on this forum and on other forums. None of them worked. Everything is well set up on my AutoCAD, my Windows, and my mouse driver, yet it still didn't work. Well, I suggest a simple solution. In any case, it's the only one that saved me. Unplug your mouse and plug in another mouse that you borrowed. Plug your old mouse back in and you might see that everything is back to normal. Good luck!

    Hello,

    Thank you for your attention.
But what do you mean by: "going into the mouse driver"?

I haven't found anything resembling "driver preferences".

I went to the control panel to see "mouse", then the buttons tab, and under "scroll button" I have: "Next window (default)... (The mouse is a: "Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0" ...)

I also checked the "hardware" tab by going through "properties" of the computer in the explorer
but: nothing... I might have looked in the wrong place, or not where I was supposed to?...

If I misunderstood or if you have another idea: I'm open to suggestions ............

Thanks again, and see you soon.

    Charles.

      Just like Dr. Charles.
In the configuration software for my Logitech MX310 mouse, I changed the function of the wheel:
I selected in Task Selection -> "Other" then "generic button"
and I retrieved the "pan" under Autocad.

    Hello everyone,

Thanks grandjenoune, your technique works great! I had this problem since I switched my mouse (I went from a 3-button to a 6-button wireless programmable mouse). I started to navigate through the multitude of options in Autocad, without success... I was starting to lose hope, as I couldn't click/move and double-click to zoom extents anymore...
    now it's fixed!

    Thanks again!!!

Hi, how did you do it? What should we do with "MBUTTONPAN" value 1?
      I'm lost, thanks a lot.

I had the same problem with an MX Revolution!
By going into the mouse driver preferences, check that it is properly configured so that the wheel is considered as the middle button or third button...

      Hello,

I have the same problem with my MX Revolution; I can't set up the panoramic/dynamic function for AutoCAD 2006.

Can you inform me of the operating procedure?

      Thank you for your response.

      I just sent you "that":

      Hello,

This misadventure happened to me quite some time ago, considering the storage capacity of my brain’s hard drive...

It is true that I frequently reformat...

However, I remember finding information that helped me better understand the zoom functions in CAD

By mindlessly using the "?" help (F1) and asking the question: "dynamic zoom with the scroll wheel"...

However, it seems I read on forums that there was a compatibility issue between the dynamic zoom on the CAD scroll wheel and certain mice, including the wireless Microsoft one that I had at the time.

I eventually switched back to a wired one… and everything went back to normal...

However, the Microsoft "Natural" Wireless Laser Mouse 6000, which I ended up buying later, works very well for dynamic zoom. Aside from being overpriced, everything is fine…

      Good luck...

by outlook, but two precautions are better than one

Sorry for not having the miracle remedy...

I just bought the MX Revolution 5500 mouse-keyboard combo, and I had the same damn problem "unable to configure the mouse to get the "Pan" function both in Autocad and Inventor...

To fix the problem, you just need to uninstall the "SetPoint" software that comes with the mouse by default and the "Pan, Zoom Extend" returns to normal. Anyway, who needs the options of SetPoint.

    Good luck.

Hi, I found a solution myself without getting rid of setpoint
      because it's still quite useful...
I have a dinovo bluetooth combo with a mediapad keyboard and a MX1000

before, when I clicked on the wheel on a plane, the plane moved really slowly with very slow stutters.

I configured it in setpoint under the mouse tab

I clicked on the 3 (middle button) which was set to "universal scroll"
instead of "universal scroll" I checked "other" then under "select function"
scroll through the menu and click on "middle button".

      and that's it
I double click on the wheel = zoom all
I click (hold) = move the plane.

      so it works, it's cool
I didn't modify anything in the registry, didn't uninstall anything, etc...

      so it's up to you.

    Hello

I own the Logitech MK 320 pack. Until now, the scroll wheel worked; when I pressed it, the little hand appeared, allowing the movement of the plan.

However, now, as if by magic, it no longer works.
I tried mbuttonpan, but without success.

I also tried with and without the SET POINT software --> no conclusive results.

    Could someone please help me?
