Adobe Premiere Pro image but no sound Solved

Hello,

hi everyone, I'm explaining my little issue, I would like to edit video with Adobe Premiere CS3!!! The problem is that the videos from my camcorder (mpeg2) show the video in Adobe Premiere but there's no sound, while videos from my digital camera (avi) work perfectly with both sound and picture, and I can access the sound options, which is not possible with the other videos!! So, I hope I've been clear; feel free to ask for more details if needed!! Thanks in advance

solution: in your video project, click on the editing tab, then on preferences, then on audio hardware, click on all hardware names, click on start input first and on full duplex, and you're good to go!

I’m going to correct what I said before, Movie Maker allows you to see the video but not the sound!! I installed other video editing software and it does the same thing!! So it must come from the format of the videos from my camcorder but it's in MPEG-2!!! Help meee

Hi,

I have the same issue as you. I bet you have a Sony hard drive camcorder. I think the problem comes from Premiere, which probably doesn't have the right codecs. In the meantime, I haven't found a solution to this problem.

Meanwhile, here's a workaround that will allow you to enjoy the sound of your videos: You just need to convert the videos into another format (Avi, MPEG 4, ..) using some software (a quick Google search). Then your videos will be properly supported.

I had a similar sound problem with PP CS3. It was enough for me to install a few codecs to get the sound working again with the imported videos.

I recommend downloading the K-Lite Codec Pack, everything is included ;)

I have the same problem, I also have a Sony camcorder with HDD.

The solution proposed by pioupiou doesn't work for me.
I also tried installing a new MPEG2 codec and it didn't change anything.

What worked for me is:
1- Renaming the .MPG files to .AVI
2- Importing into Adobe Premiere. The sound is there, but the image dimensions are automatically set to 4:3 even if you recorded in 16:9.
3- For 16:9, you need to right-click on the file > "Footage..." > "Pixel Aspect Ratio" > "Conform to DV PAL Widescreen 1.422"

I found a solution for CS6 users whose M4V files have this issue; I am on Win 8.1 64 bit for your information. Similarly, Edit - Preferences - Audio Hardware - ASIO Settings. In the Output tab, check 32-bit hardware playback!
