Hello,
I bought myself an iPod touch and I am unable to connect to the Wi-Fi network at home (I’m with Télé2). When my iPod searches for a network, it finds it but I can’t connect to it. And when I try to configure it (IP, DNS, Router, Subnet, Client ID) I can’t fill everything in.
For your information, there is a lock icon next to the name of the found network and even if I enter my password, I cannot connect.
What should I do?

Wifi connection tip for iPod touch:
Hello,
I encountered the same problem as you when I tried to connect the iPod touch to my Wifi router (NETGEAR WGT624) for the first time. My router uses MAC address filtering, so I made sure to retrieve the MAC address of the iPod touch before attempting a first Wifi connection.
The MAC address of the iPod touch can be found under: Settings-General-About-Wi-Fi Address
Then, after adding the MAC address of the iPod Touch to the router, I tried to connect by simply entering the requested password (for me, the WPA2 key -> a string of characters), but that didn’t work. Probably a typing error during my first use of the iPod Touch keyboard. It’s true that the fact that the characters of the password entered don’t appear on the screen doesn’t make things easier. After trying different combinations: Changing the encryption mode of the wifi router (switching from a WPA2 key to a WEP key), then changing the router password, nothing worked,
but I eventually found the solution to connect my iPod touch to Wifi and wanted to share this method with you, hoping it can help many iPod touch owners who, like me, struggled to connect their iPod touch to Wifi:
Step 1: Start from a clean slate by deleting the previous network settings of the iPod Touch.
To do this, go to: Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings
Step 2: Establish the connection between the iPod touch and the Wifi router
Note 1: Be careful, at this stage, some routers like Livebox require prior activation of a button to accept the iPod into their list of authorized devices (in my case -> NETGEAR WGT624 router, the router needs to be configured to manually add the MAC address of the iPod touch) unless you are not using MAC address filtering on your Wifi router, this step is necessary
After completing step 1. To now establish the connection with the iPod touch, go to: Settings -Wi-Fi - Choose a network …
Note 2: At this stage, the name of your Wifi router should appear -> However, do not click on it and choose the option: Other… (to manually configure the Wifi access for the iPod touch)
Then enter the exact name (SSID) of your Wifi network in the Name field, then, from the Security field, select the type of encryption that your router uses (WEP, WPA, or WPA2), you just need to enter the network password (being very careful with each character typed and making sure to respect uppercase letters if your password contains them).
From there, just click on Join, and after a few seconds, the Wifi connection should be established with the iPod. If that’s the case, no failure message should appear on the screen. Open Safari or YouTube which should then load information via Wifi.
Hoping this experience can help you take advantage of Wifi with your iPod touch
Good luck ;-)

After the messages above, I eventually managed to connect my IPOD TOUCH to my LIVEBOX.
I confirm that the password corresponds to the WEP key on the label under the LIVEBOX.
TWO TIPS:
1- Do not include spaces
2- The difficulty mainly comes from the need to respect uppercase and lowercase letters.
You can't see what you type, and the IPOD automatically switches to lowercase for each letter. So, you need to press the vertical arrow before each uppercase letter.
Good luck!

Well, actually I found it. In my opinion, I must have entered my WEP key incorrectly and I have nothing to configure. Just need to enter my WEP key.
P.S: François, the password it's asking for is the WEP key.

I had the same problem and I found out how to connect, it's very simple. Just go to the menu of your Livebox and then go to the settings. After that, go to the security of your Livebox and set no network security. Then you just have to go to your iPod and search for Wi-Fi and you will be automatically connected.
Hi everyone,
I really struggled for 3 days, and finally, it’s super easy to connect your IPOD Touch to your Livebox.
If, like me, you entered the password for your system administrator page of the LB, which is "admin", and you keep trying to connect after that, stop everything!!! and start over.
To do this, select "forget this network" and confirm (red).
Then, re-select your Livebox, and for the Password, enter the "Wifi security key" which should be on the label that also has the name of your Livebox, which is located on the orange envelope "INSTALLING The Livebox". Personally, I stuck it on the inside page of the Guide.
Everyone talks about the "WEP" key: it’s the wifi security key, which acts as the password.
WARNING: be careful with the capitals by making sure to reactivate the "shift" key each time, because once you have typed the letter, it unlocks.
By the way: NEVER USE SPACES OTHERWISE IT WON'T WORK!!!
After a bit of concentration to avoid mistakes, it should be all good!!!
If someone has the solution to be able to connect automatically to hotspots when leaving home, please share the tip because I haven't done that yet.
Happy surfing everyone!!!

Hi flek-a, I had the same problem as you before with the videos. You need to go to the website http://www.infos-du-net.com/telecharger/Converter-iPod-Videora,0301-3407.html, download this software, and just follow the instructions. And there you go, it's in the bag, or rather in the iTouch!! ^^ Good luck for the rest!
Hello everyone!!!!!!!!! I have an iPod touch and I connected in 2 SECONDS!! Here it is.. it asks you for a code!!! It’s simply your WEP key they want!! No need to look behind your box or modem!! It’s not indicated!! If you don’t have it? Call your internet service provider, they can give it to you.. it’s a fairly long code so be careful to write it correctly with uppercase or not if necessary!! Once you enter it, you’re connected!! As for those who are supposedly connected (((so-called))) and can’t go on the internet! It’s only because they entered the wrong code!! Even if you enter a wrong code, it will simulate a connection!! Try with another foreign network!! You need the correct WEP key!! There you go.. for those who really can’t do it.. call APPLE support!! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!
For those who have a Livebox: press buttons 1 and 2 located on it (the Livebox will blink) then go back to settings, select your Livebox, enter your WEP key and happy browsing!
Hello VAL, a few checks: you must be placed next to your internet box. If it is on, you need to turn it off and then turn it back on, then wait for it to load. Turn on the iPod Touch next: Settings/Wi-Fi/choose a network (yours), enter your WEP code (under the box) DO NOT VALIDATE DIRECTLY. Under the box, there is a REG button (click on it) 5 seconds later click join.
And it works....
Best regards.

1) Hi, I just bought an iPod Touch, but the problem is that I can't connect to the internet. I have a Neufbox and I entered the WEP key correctly, but it says something like "unable to connect, blah blah blah."
Yet, I've never had any problems with Wi-Fi (PSP, Wii), so does anyone have a Neufbox???
Thanks
2) Before, I had the iPod Nano, and as soon as I bought the Touch, all my songs from my old iPod were transferred to it. I would like to delete them, but all my songs are in light gray, so I don't know how to do it. Please???
Thanks

For anyone like me who has a Livebox. To connect your iPod touch to it, you just need to enter the WEP key when asked for the password...
However, you need to activate the caps lock for each LETTER...
For the numbers, just type them normally!!!!
Personally, it worked for me...
Good luck to everyone!!!!

Hi,
I just struggled like some people to access the web via the iPod touch, connection established but unable to browse on Safari or YouTube, always an error. I changed the position of my WEP key in the administration of my router to set it to one, then I switched to WEP auto mode, and after validating the changes, everything was fine.
Always try first without a WEP key to see; disable it in your router settings at either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 depending on your router, use admin as the username and admin as the password if it's required, assuming you are still on default settings, of course.
There you go, best wishes to everyone and Merry Christmas.

Hello everyone, it turns out that I had the same problem with the server being unreachable.
However, you just need to fill everything in correctly with the DHCP in your IP address.
If the Livebox works like my Netgear, you need to assign a name to your added MAC address. You must not make a mistake on either of the two, then copy it into your IP address on the iPod touch.

To Julien: I have 2 buttons on my live box (one at each end), so press both to be sure and try entering the code again.
And thanks to Lili for the photo because I was desperate to find this button on the live box..!
Good luck to everyone.

A big thank you to "Nico" from page 2. It works!!

If you have a Livebox, follow his method, it's simple and clear.
Good luck because I see we're all in the same mess ^^

So for MSN on iTouch there is eBuddy and www.meebo.com to go on YouTube you need to connect the iTouch to iTunes and synchronize the iPhone for Safari with a Livebox you need to press the button 1 at the back to search for something like the iTouch detecting a Wi-Fi, the antenna button on the Livebox is flashing then launch Safari select your Wi-Fi network and enter your web key in uppercase. I remind you that for the update, you need to press each time on the up arrow key on the iTouch keyboard for each letter then click join and there you go, good luck.
Hi everyone! Not long ago, I wrote to you asking for help. In fact, I couldn't connect to Wi-Fi with my Freebox. I went back to the store where it was purchased because I couldn't connect to any network, secure or not.
Actually, it was a misconfiguration of the iPod. Since it started working again, I can connect to Free. The procedure? You need to go to the FREE website (Wi-Fi connection), activate the router function, enter a name for the network that you will find on the iPod, then you need to get a WEP key (at the bottom of the page click on generate), and keep the WEP key that will be provided to you. Unplug/replug the FREEBOX to let it update. Then, on the iPod, you should choose the network named on the Free website (by default: freebox). At this point, you will be asked for a password; simply enter the WEP key and you're good to go.
I hope this will help you.

I am sending you this message from the iTouch and it took me a minute to connect.. You just need to enter the WEP key (I am with Tele 2). I will check that on the Livebox at my father's place, but it didn't work with the PSP already..
Hello, I have tried all the techniques described above, but unfortunately none of them work!!!!
I really don't know what to do anymore... If you have another technique, please help me.

To Livebox owners, the MAC address filtering was enabled by default for me, so if you want to connect your iPod Touch to your Livebox, don't forget to add your iPod Touch to the list of MAC addresses to not filter or to allow =)
Good luck and thanks again ^^
thank you very much for your post because I was getting frustrated with the settings for Free
with the Livebox there's no problem since I know how it works very well, but the Freebox is such a headache I find
in any case, thanks again
have a good weekend
