Long wait for the first internet connection

Hello, I’m still on Windows 10 and it works. But for the past 15 days every time I open an internet session with Chrome, it lags for at least 5 minutes before Chrome appears. Could I be “watched”? I’ve had political conversations that were fairly oriented and vigorous on Facebook during this period… I should add that this waiting time only happens when connecting to Chrome for the first time. If I cut the internet mid-session and immediately reconnect, there’s no waiting… I often run CCleaner 7 to delete all temporary files and update software. What could I do to speed up the first connection? I should add that navigation on the chosen sites is fast.

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

    Good evening,

To begin, have you tried another browser (Edge...) to see if there is a delay or not.

Thank you Kori-Kori, I don’t use Edge but Firefox and it’s the same problem. However, risking losing bookmarks and passwords bothers me a lot. Thank you for your immediate response on a Sunday evening, regards

I just tested the speeds (I have fiber) once the connection is properly established amount: 508 Mb/s (average data from Google: 511, so good ... downstream: 657 Mb/s It also shows latency: 5 I’m not sure what that corresponds to ... These numbers seem good, but it’s 3:45 AM, we should check during the day ... I’m in the Southeast, near the sea: tourists ... the connection was a little shorter than usual: 2 to 3 minutes instead of 5 or more during the day, when I have intermittent link cuts but with immediate restoration after reconnecting to Windows. The problem may come only from these links to the transmitter ??? sorry I didn’t think of it before ... matou83

At 8 o'clock the throughputs drop to 461 and 440 Mb/s, latency = 5.9 s. The connection to the internet lasted 1.5 minutes; we’ll need to test in the middle of the day... It seems the solution comes from there... Too many tourists connected...

      Hello,

You can export your bookmarks and passwords to a file and import them at any time in the browsers of your choice; it’s very convenient. See in the settings.

Thank you very much Cristal, but I’ve just realized that the problem actually comes from the fiber network, too many connections because of the supporters ...

Thanks to all those who replied to me, I have proof that the issue was the cause:

    Yesterday at 3:30 PM: 30 seconds of waiting: receive / 659 Mb/s - send: 477 Mb/s

    This morning at 5:00 AM: 2 minutes of waiting: receive 395 Mb/s - send: 434 Mb/s.

I’m reporting that the problem is resolved. Thanks again for your attention.

Hello, Not to mention ADSL where this factor is predominant, there are plenty of people who connect via fiber around 300 Mb/s because that is what their nominal offer allows, and in reality around 100-150 Mb/s without any speed issues, except of course when downloading very large files takes longer; the quality of the Wi-Fi connection, if any, can also affect these values. The possible existence of network disturbances regardless of the speed or software problems (startup services, etc.) likely explains the observed issue better. For months now I’ve had, by necessity, a 4G box connection with a nominal 300 Mb/s, which does not introduce any latency as long as the speed does not drop below due to congestion or other disturbances, say below 50 Mb/s.
