Hello,

Following a Google alert about a likely hacked account, I would like to know what would happen if I delete the Adobe Acrobat account I use to read DRM-protected EPUBs on my tablet, and if I create another one. What should I do so that the DRM files are read with this new account? I am using, with the person's permission, the credentials of their account. I also have an account with another ID and password for Aldiko, which I use on my tablet where I also read both ordinary EPUB files and those with DRM. I cannot determine which of these two accounts activates these EPUBs. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me sort out this mess.

    If you delete the Adobe Acrobat account you use to read DRM ebooks, you will no longer be able to open those files because the DRM (Digital Rights Management) is tied to that specific account.

    However, it is possible to transfer your DRM from one Adobe account to another. To do this, you must follow these steps:

    1. Deauthorise your current Adobe account on your reader, tablet or ebook reading software.
    2. Create a new Adobe account and authorize it on your reader, tablet or reading software.
    3. Re-download your digital books from the bookstore site. In general, they will then be associated with the new Adobe account and can be opened with that account.

    Regarding the question of which account is used to read the ebooks, generally, it is the account you have authorized on your reading app (for example Aldiko) that is used to read DRM-protected epub files. You can check the settings of your app to see which account is currently authorized.
