Hello,
I created my database in Excel to be able to generate a mail merge for labels in Word.
However, when I open my Word document and try to select recipients by browsing for my Excel file, I get an error message that appears in a window:
- Select table => Highlight => so far so good
but then I get this:
- Select table => Workbook :: C\Users\stoussaert\Desktop.xls
I click OK and then a window says "Word could not open the data source"
and as a result, I can't do anything at all.
I've even tried moving my file to my desktop, trying again and again, but nothing works.
I don't understand: it's the first time this has happened to me; I know how to do mail merges, I've done it before.

Hello and thank you for your reply C-Claire,
The version of Windows I am using is "Windows 7".
My Excel file is called "INVITATION.xlsx": there are no special characters that could cause an issue.
I tried saving it while checking for compatibility and also in 97/2003 format, and the result is the same in both cases.
What’s strange is that sometimes, after insisting, it works, but I never know what I did at that moment.

the special characters are not for the workbook name, but for the sheet name (in the tab).
I wasn't asking for your version of Windows, but for that of Office!
If you want to upload a sample of your Word document and that of your Excel workbook on https://www.cjoint.com/ and give us the link in a next message, we can see if the problem occurs.
