Good evening,

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad x230 laptop with Linux Mint installed on it.

I wanted to try the game Dofus to see if it would work on my old machine.

I downloaded the file from the official website, then in the properties, I clicked to make it executable and that's how it opened a download and installation page for Dofus.

But when I tried the game, there were quite a few slowdowns here and there, even though it was working more or less well. However, I still prefer to uninstall it.

However, I don't see how to uninstall it since it doesn't appear in the applications menu.

What should I do, please? It would also allow me to recover 11 gigabytes of data.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards.

Hello,

There are several ways to install it, which does not simplify the question:

https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/dofus

Under these conditions, if it doesn't appear in the applications to uninstall, the easiest way is to install Synaptic in the terminal.

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

then

sudo apt install synaptic

Now we will find Synaptic in the menu, search for Dofus, and uncheck everything related to it; I understand that the game also installs an Adobe Air package, same punishment.

The link I provided also explains in section 3.1 how to delete the corresponding files.

Good evening Brucine,

Thank you for your response.

I followed your steps for Synaptic in the terminal, but I can't find Dofus in Synaptic...

Best regards.

Hello,

I'm absolutely terrible at games and not very knowledgeable about Linux.

As mentioned, there are several installation methods and it's noted here and there that aside from the software itself, the game would scatter files everywhere on the disk like Hansel and Gretel.

A search for adobeair that would also remove the rest doesn't work either? Or for "Ankama" (that's the launcher)?

Otherwise, it's said that the "Windows way" actually downloads an exe, which is contradictory on Linux, and Wine is needed to run it, so one would have to look for Wine if not already using it, and then I suppose look for and delete everything on the disk related to dofus, ankama...

Hello Brucine,

I'm quite good at games (I've been playing since I was 8 or 9), but when it comes to MMOs, I've hardly ever touched them... And I'm not very knowledgeable in Linux either. :)

I followed your advice by launching the launcher, and in the settings, I found an option to "uninstall Dofus".

I think it worked because I regained several gigabytes on my disk, hoping that everything is gone.

Thank you for your help, Brucine.

Best regards.
