Firefox goes on strike

Hello,
I have bravely switched to Windows 11 and one of the first tools I installed is Firefox-144, mainly out of habit.
Everything is going well, I'm quietly retrieving my bookmarks which are not causing any issues, everything can continue "as before".
Except that....
.... while I can search and use my favorites just fine, I can no longer add new ones!
No matter how hard I try, regardless of my choice or method, no new bookmark will be accepted among the old ones.
Can anyone please help me figure out where this might be coming from and especially how to fix it?
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
Unless I'm mistaken, it's not possible to merge them; it's one bookmark at a time, through the normal process when re-injecting it into the browser.
Check with this program to reset it.
Download ResetBrowser for free for PC - CCM
Precaution: Backup Firefox and Chrome Bookmarks
Although favorites are kept, it is always safer to have a copy.
Who talked about merging? 8-o
I'm not trying to merge favorites, but to add one at a time to the already existing list. I've been using FF for over fifteen years, thanks.
And apparently, Resetbrowser is not indicated to work on Win11...
Any other ideas?
In your request!
<< no new bookmark can be created among the old ones >>
It's a bit confusing; it's simpler with "email address or hyperlink" in the formulation of the question!
Also known as bookmark, favorite or tag, the electronic bookmark of web browsers allows its user to save a web address in the form of a bookmark so that they can return to it later. These bookmarks can also be saved.
The article from CCM dates back to May 30, 2022, and on the official site of the publisher, it is intended for Windows; nothing indicates that it cannot function on Windows 11.
Resetbrowser can function on Windows 11!
"to take one’s place among the old ones." does not mean "to merge with".
It just means to fit in next to the old ones in a list, like cars in a parking lot parking between other cars in the same lot; they don’t merge as such.
"nothing indicates that it is not able to function on Windows 11." : yes.
But nothing indicates the opposite either.
Hello,
If you're trying to save the old loaded bookmarks and re-import the backup instead of the old backup?
This is just a suggestion of an idea.
Also, if you move Firefox from one system to another, you can transfer the entire profile in %AppData%\Mozilla
Hello,
We don’t know how these bookmarks were exported and then imported, whether it was a Firefox backup format, an HTML backup, or a profile copy, but that shouldn’t change the outcome.
Where the issue lies is that when importing, these old bookmarks may have been copied into a specific folder where Firefox prompts you for a destination folder (if I remember correctly, by default it’s Other bookmarks) which can be changed when adding a new one.
In other words, there may not be a disappearance but only a classification problem that would lead to moving some or all of them to the chosen location. What happens when we go to Bookmarks, organize, do we find them?
Re-
Continuation of the saga...
- In the meantime, I had noticed that I couldn't even delete (!) a bookmark!
- The use of Resetbrowser, although carried out smoothly and very easily, did not yield any significant results: everything was restored correctly, but adding favorites remained impossible.
- I couldn't find %AppData%\Mozilla ... which I probably wouldn't have known what to do with anyway.
After several impressive failures, I simply closed FF, shut down and restarted the PC, reset FF, and then imported the bookmarks saved on an external drive.
As a result, everything was restored, everything works again, I can add or delete favorites.
Let's hope it lasts....
The only small downside for now: in front of the title of certain bookmarks, the specific small icon does not appear when accessing the relevant site, and this happens completely randomly: the one for CCM appears, the one for Ameli does not, the one for Lidl does, the one for Yahoo does not....
But this is ultimately a very minor inconvenience, even if it raises questions.
Thank you for your interest in my issue. Have a nice Sunday.
Re,
The Appdata folder cannot be found unless hidden files are set to be displayed.
The old Firefox profile, if it has been backed up, notably contains the favicons.sqlite and places.sqlite files, which are responsible for displaying these icons when they exist on the sites.
If the files in the new profile have not been overwritten, they will only appear when you connect to the relevant sites.
Hello,
On my end, Open Shell finds the Mozilla folder when I search for
%AppData%\Mozilla
The Windows start menu, however, does not; it indeed does not find it.
The system path %AppData% is a reference to the path (Shortcut to)
C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming
So in French it’s C:\Utilisateurs\Utilisateur\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla
Hidden folders indeed.
But we can open it with the Windows+R keys (Run) %AppData%\Mozilla
