Hello,
What is the brand and model of your printer?

Hello
Brother HL-1030
I found a driver but it must not be the right one because when I print a Word or Excel document, the printer works but it only produces blank pages and empties the tray
thank you
best regards

Hello,
Brother only provides drivers up to Windows 10, try if you haven't already done so to see if they work on Windows 11.
Otherwise, we need to check if it appears after possibly updating Windows Update in the list of Brother printers integrated into Windows.
If not, it's probably dead.

Thanks for your help
I installed the driver, and when I try to print from Word or Excel, the printer starts up but nothing prints!!! What could be the cause?
Best regards
I conclude, therefore, that after researching Windows Update, there is no built-in driver for Windows 11.
It is possible that the driver is not compatible with Windows 11.
We can always try to test on a virtual machine, for example, VMWare Windows 10, to be sure, but there is no certainty, as consumer virtual machines do not always manage a hardware device that is physically connected to the host.To sort everything out, and if I read correctly, the printer is so old (2000?) that it only offers drivers for Win9X and even Win3X and it’s parallel.
Assuming your PC even has a parallel port (or worse, a parallel USB adapter), Windows 10 and 11 have issues with it.
Some authors report having gotten older models from other brands (1995-1996) to work by installing a Sunix parallel card and the associated LPT drivers.
But that’s just complicating things and spending money for not much benefit.
I’m the first to dislike waste, but the printer is an entry-level laser printer that is 25 years old. The current equivalent from Brother, if you’re keen on it (it’s a good brand), can be found new for €100.

Find and install a compatible driver
The Brother HL-1030 is a very old printer, and Brother may no longer provide official drivers for Windows 11. Here’s how to proceed:Check for drivers on Brother's official website
Go to Brother’s official website: support.brother.com.
Select your region (e.g., France) and search for the HL-1030 model.
In the Downloads section, check if a driver is available for Windows 11 or Windows 10 (64-bit or 32-bit, depending on your system). To identify your version of Windows:
Click on Start > Settings > System > About and check if your system is 32-bit or 64-bit.
Download the Full Driver & Software Package if available. Follow the installation instructions. -
If no driver is available for Windows 11:
Try the driver for Windows 7 or 8 (64 bit), which may work in compatibility mode.
Download the file, save it to your disk (for example, in the Downloads folder), and run the installer. If the installation fails, move on to the generic driver option. -
Hello @Charly7583 StatusMember
I believe there is no 64-bit driver for this model.
Try the procedure below:
Connect the printer cable to the PC
Press Windows + i
1- Bluetooth and devices
2- Printers and scanners
3- Click on --> Add a deviceBelow are example images:

Did it not work with the procedure proposed in message 6?
