Unwanted pop-ups that can't be removed on Maxthon

Hello,
for a few days now I've been experiencing pop-ups that suddenly appear
they offer me to install a pop-up blocker!!!!
this only happens when I'm using Maxthon 7.1.500
I don't even know what Maxthon is! a browser?
I use it solely to play on the Mundijeux.fr site (very basic and mediocre but I only play meli-mots, a variant of scrabble)
in any case, these pop-ups appear as soon as I try to log in to play
I'm offered everything and anything: "Advanced Ad Blocker", "Opera", etc....
what's going on?
can I do something to get rid of the source of these pop-ups?
I want to clarify that I haven't changed anything about how I play, on Maxthon, and that I don't want to download anything additional
there might be a scam behind this, right?
"who benefits from the crime?"
thank you for your help

Hello,
Yes, a Browser as described is an Internet Browser.
I imagine this browser can have installed extensions, plug-ins of a sort, check its settings.
I don't even know if it's a browser based on Mozilla or Chrome or neither, but you can switch, why Maxthon?
I would recommend uninstalling it and switching to Mozilla Firefox.
https://www.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/all/
And add the NoScript extension for total control of scripts.
https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/noscript/
(It is essential to mark them as Trusted for scripts from known sites if you want to interact with sites (Each site), or Temporarily Trusted for sites that seem trustworthy but that you don't really know).
Thank you fabul and brucine,
absurd situation
I have properly installed Firefox
but I am unable to connect to my player account, as I did with Maxthon
mundijeux is a permanent hassle, many players are suffering
according to what I was told some time ago, Mundijuegos—the original site is Spanish—no longer receives updates. As a result, bugs are rampant
I confirm
in short, I'm going around in circles, too bad!
I will end up having to give up using this gaming site
it is very popular and inexpensive, offers simple games, it suited me well
and many players pass through Maxthon
to be continued...
thanks again for your help
Hello,
This is an old site that uses Flash Player/Shockwave, technologies that have been abandoned in almost all browsers for security reasons and whose compatibility with modern browsers is uncertain.
There are tons of old abandonware games scattered everywhere, but if this is the only one you like, you can always try to restore Flash Player at your own risk, check out this discussion or a number of workarounds for continuing to use Incredimail where the problem is the same.

Hello,
The latest versions of Maxthon are said to be based on Chromium, although there would be backward compatibility with IE and all the junk that goes with it (ActiveX), and much like everything Chinese, we aren't quite sure what we're getting into, but it boasts having an ad blocker.
I don't want to sign up to check, but indeed, it seems that the behavior doesn't depend on the browser (where it should be enough to block ads or pop-ups with or without an extension) but rather on the website in question, and it is not clear why it would only work under Maxthon, as that wouldn't attract many users.
