My browsers keep crashing and freezing.

Hello everyone,

I need help please :(

For the past ten days, all my browsers have been crashing and I'm out of ideas.

I have cleared the caches/cookies, run Avast, Malwarebytes/AdwCleaner, and I thought I had found the solution because the latter detected a PUP.Optional.Legacy file, which I deleted, but the problem persists:

I mainly use Firefox and it's the tabs that crash (see screenshot below), while with Chrome, the entire browser crashes.

I also uninstalled/reinstalled and "repaired" Firefox but nothing works.

Any ideas please? Thank you in advance.

    Hello bazfile,

It's already disabled and it still crashes.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

A little userdiag diagnosis? Because it seems strange to me that there is this problem on multiple browsers.

    Best regards.

    Hello.

    Do the necessary tests:

Check the disk and the integrity of the files.
Download the program crystaldiskinfo, install it and run it (be careful, make sure to select the correct program: crystaldiskinfo, not crystaldiskmark!):
    https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskinfo/
Provide the status of the disk, preferably with a screenshot.

Then, press the Windows and X keys and click on powershell (admin) and copy the command:
    CHKDSK /F /X
Respond "Y" and restart the PC.

Finally, open a powershell window (admin) and enter the command:
        DISM /ONLINE /CLEANUP-IMAGE /RESTOREHEALTH then validate.
For this command, you need to be connected to the internet.

Without closing the window, copy the command:
        SFC /SCANNOW  then validate.

Provide the results of these two commands.

    Hello everyone,

    Thank you for your comments.

@Wizdo StatusMember: it’s a pop-up window that appears when Firefox crashes sometimes (not all the time)

@oblixx: Unfortunately, I can't share anything with you. After running the diagnostic, not only did Firefox crash but so did the computer, and I couldn't restart it normally; the PC got stuck on the ASUS logo during the reboot and I had to go through the BIOS to restart it correctly

@SATS_fr StatusMember: here are the requested screenshots.

(Even posting this message has been a struggle, impossible to upload images from Firefox, the window that opens to choose files crashed all of Firefox, I had to do it from my mobile ????)

Thanks again to all of you

OK. No issues with the disks.

Do you have the option to take a restore point from before the crash date? (run TSTRUI)

Otherwise, restore W10: You need to download the ISO, => https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 to your Desktop

Click on "Download the tool now"

Check the box next to "Create installation media"

      1) Right-click on the ISO file and select Mount.
      2) Double-click on it to view the included files. Double-click on the setup.exe file to start the Windows 10 installation.

Then follow the procedure. Make sure to check "Keep personal apps and files" or "Keep only personal files."

      When you're ready, click Install.
Your PC will restart several times. Be sure not to turn off your PC.

Finish with a search for updates.

    Hello,

I'm replying a bit late because I had a little "accident" with external hard drives and it took me a week to recover the lost partitions and restore my files.

I ended up completely resetting the PC and installing Windows 11, and the browser crashing issue hasn't occurred again.

I'm marking the discussion as resolved. Thanks to everyone who took the time to help me solve the issue.

    Have a great weekend!
