How to delete an Edge profile?

Hello,
On a a PC to send back to the sender for a problem, how do you delete the Edge profile?
The favorites (180,000 favorites).
Without desynchronization?
I’ve been told to remove the SSD, I don’t know how to do that, to delete the data.

Hello,
What customer service recommends is to open the case, remove the disk, and return the case without the disk. You should receive a new case without a disk, into which you will place your disk.
This is ideal for confidentiality, as you won't be sending any personal data.
Hello,
I accepted the exchange of a very high-value PC.
As it will be refurbished, I don't want my next user to find the favorites.
The customer service is in Germany (they are very understanding even on Saturdays and Sundays), it’s not an easy task before asking the question on CCM, a return shipping label for exchange.
What customer service recommends is to open the case, remove the hard drive, and send them back the case without the hard drive.
I do not agree, the exchange will certainly be refused, it’s a new PC.
Since it will probably be refurbished afterwards.
And without the hard drive... that means that there is missing hardware.
And it’s me who set up this new mini PC, without OneDrive :-) when starting it up.
I think the information by email is not correct, you don’t return a new PC without its original hard drive, SSD in my case.
There would be one loser, maybe 2 losers in this case, and that’s not the goal.
It's the Edge favorites to delete, without touching the synchronization, which is the case.
How to do that?
It's an exchange, but not the same PC, and I insisted on this request, they agreed to what I proposed (at the same price).
So it will be a new mini PC, not exactly like the first one, but very close (one less Ethernet port), customer service accepted my exchange request.
I just have to remove the Edge favorites before returning the PC, by Colissimo, with the SSD.
How to do it?
Hello,
I'm not really following the discussion either, rather than just removing the SSD as indicated.
Otherwise, you can simply make an external copy of the relevant file(s) and then delete them.

Hello Brucine,
just make an external copy of the file(s) in question and then delete them.
From your link:
>> Go to the path C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default > click on View > choose Options at the top right of the panel > View > scroll down and check Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
The next part:
--► Where are my favorites? They are not located at %UserProfile%\AppData......\Default\Favorites.
What are the little dots between AppData......\Default ?

Anyway, I found it, it's like finding the profile for Firefox or Chrome.
But I can't see the ^^Favorites^^ folder.

---

--------------- -------------------- -------------------------
Maybe the folder --►Bookmarks and Bookmarks.bak

I tried to disable the ^^Favorites^^ sync in the Microsoft Edge profiles.

I still have the favorites.
However, the imported ones are no longer there.
And sync is still enabled in the profiles, after all.
***************
I have the exported favorites file in HTML (Firefox or (and) Chrome).
Logically, that should suffice to then reset Microsoft Edge.
I have to send the mini PC by colissimo in the coming week, tomorrow would be ideal.
The other applications will be uninstalled with Revo, and the latter will be uninstalled in Settings--►Apps, in order to leave the PC clean
Not much installed, so it should go quite fast.
Formatting would require creating an account, not necessarily a Microsoft account, but a local account, which is not the goal.
For the record, the defect of this mini PC which is a powerhouse in terms of performance (turning on the PC in 3 seconds) opening a browser in half a second, or doing Windows Update in record time (a great processor + memory, aside from the graphics driver which gave me trouble, but I asked the question on CCM, it's resolved).
The problem is the noisy fan.
When I say noisy, you can hear a whooshing sound, maybe not very loud but it becomes annoying over time.
Hence my request to make an exchange.
But before getting there, after several discussions with customer service abroad, I was offered a BIOS update (I've done 2 in 30 years) with a file attached by email.
After checking, it turns out that my BIOS is up to date, which I indicated to customer service, leading to an exchange proposal.
From there, I chose another PC of the same brand and at the same price.
Mini PCs are great in terms of performance, they take up little space (8 cm x 8 cm) with a superb connectivity.
But I'm disappointed by the noise, that's all, so I'm trying to move forward.
And I want to return the PC as clean as possible.
All that’s left is that damned Edge that I will end up resetting if I don't find other solutions.
...
These are indeed the Bookmarks files.
I don't know Edge very well; under Firefox, I choose to save them directly in the profile in html format and reduce the number of backups, but that doesn't prevent them from being saved in both formats (html and original json).
I don't understand anything about synchronization, which I don't use on any browser, but there is no operation of the Holy Spirit: normally deleting them as above and reopening Edge will bring back a blank file, but of course it will be useless if there is synchronization, and I don't know how to disable it (perhaps it needs to be done on each affected device, a Cloud if there is one involved...).
Hello,
I see this (dge://favorites/?id=2):

And at the top right I see this ^^Other favorites^^
The command edge://favorites/?id=2 or edge://favorites/?id=1
displays all the favorites folders and "other favorites" in Edge, which must then be expanded; it is similar to Windows Explorer. On the lines where there is a cross on the right, it indicates the deletion of that line (to be done one by one).
One could ask the question differently:
How to return a new PC, free of all applications?
Aside from formatting as mentioned in this post.
Maybe other ideas?
This mini PC with Copilot. (W11 pro version 24h2)
So I asked the question like anyone else would.
That's not the purpose of AI, I'd rather have answers from a forum.
Here is the response from the artificial intelligence. (Copilot) W11:
Aside from mentioned in this post (message 6 for example).
How to reduce the noise (hissing) --> Geekom IT13
The customer service helped (if we can say) by proposing a BIOS update with no result (in my case).
I asked for the invoice + SN which I sent for confirmation
Relieved to be able to proceed with an exchange, that's good,, even if it's another PC, not as relieved as that, I don't have it in hand to see if it's noisy or not.
Hello,
By deleting the Bookmarks file in the Default folder of Microsoft Edge, the favorites and other bookmarks are no longer visible in the Edge browser.

The problem is that Edge has created a profile that I have not been able to delete.
Even after deletion, the account returns by default.
Even deleted from everywhere:

-----

This one is linked to my Microsoft account, and I didn't want to delete Edge for a clean outcome.
I still looked everywhere without finding anything concrete.

---------------

I took the PC to the pickup point today.
I had the choice of the pickup point with the link received by email ==► locate the post office.fr
What bothers me is that the postal worker who scanned the package said there were customs duties, the package is going to Germany, but Geekom didn't mention anything to me in the email exchanges.
The postal worker still validated the return slip of which I have a paper trace.
I hope it will be fine, but I doubt I will see the package return, and I have no idea of the customs duties cost.
Hello,
That's reassuring.
Yet the postal worker showed me the customs duty information on her device that scans
the return slip, but she validated the package with a smile.
PC purchased on Amazon which redirected me to Geekom.
Geekom ==► RETURN & EXCHANGE POLICY
I hadn't seen this:
Return Process
1- Please contact our customer service for the return address.
(GEEKOM expects packages to be returned in their original condition as much as possible.)
2- After the return, please provide the tracking number to our customer service to manage the return or exchange. No return or exchange fees.
3-We usually process your return package within 3 to 5 business days after the arrival of your return package.
I will send the return slip stamped by the postal worker by email after scanning it.
Let's see what response I will get.
I will keep you updated, and this is a first for me regarding this kind of exchange.
