Using the August VGB 100 converter

Hello everyone!
My firewire connection is faulty between my Sony camcorder and my desktop PC.
I'm considering using the August VGB 100 converter, which seems satisfactory.
Since I use Magix Video 2015 for my editing, I believe that the August software is not necessary and that Magix should recognize the video on the USB input.
Am I mistaken?
Thank you for your opinions

Hello, due to the troubles with numerous messages about 4-pin USB keys, regular contributors on CCM have directed their preferences towards a well-known device accompanied by editing software and online help, the Pinnacle Dazzle box.
However, I will answer your question; I watched a very well-made tutorial on YouTube about August.

This key does have software to install, but it is not an editing module.
So in my opinion, you can use Magic once your files are converted to MPEG.

Very well, thank you.
I tested my PC with Magix and a newer camcorder with a USB output (a Panasonic V270) connected directly to a USB input on the PC.
The input is well recognized by Magix, and the video was played and recorded correctly.
I hope it will be just as easy with August....
I will try connecting directly without August's software; I think Magix will do the job.
I will give you feedback afterwards.
Thank you very much.
Hello, you are questioning my knowledge; apart from a USB IEEE 1394 connection (an internal card in your PC), you cannot transfer your file from USB to USB without converting analog to digital.
As for the continuation, I am curious, thank you for the feedback.
