Uninstalling Avast

Hello,

I have an ESET antivirus. It was installed by a computer technician in 2023. However, he forgot to uninstall the paid Avast. In spring 2024, since I didn't pay attention to an email from Avast saying I would be charged about 93 euros, I was debited. I realized it too late to request a refund. I have not reinstalled Avast. But Avast regularly sends me emails. I try to email them to stop sending me emails. In the spring, I chose to request the cancellation of the direct debit by Avast. Avast responded that my request for non-direct debit has been taken into account. What worries me is that I can no longer find their email response, whereas that email was clearly present in the Avast folder a few days ago. I'm afraid of a bad move from Avast. Especially since right now, I'm receiving scam attempts, meaning fake emails from Avast saying they will charge me 555 euros for my Avast Premium Security subscription if I do not oppose by calling the indicated phone number. How can I get rid of Avast? Thank you. Have a nice day. Phopi

Hello.

Your issue does not concern the security forum, I am redirecting it to the Consumption forum.

If Avast is not completely uninstalled from your PC, you can use AvastClear to uninstall it, but uninstalling Avast will not solve your payment issue.

As for the fake emails, they probably do not come from Avast; just do not reply to them and ignore them.

Hello, to cancel your Avast subscription, it's very simple. You go to your Avast account, click on subscription, and there you stop everything. Normally, it will send you a confirmation email. Once it's canceled, you can now uninstall it from your device.

Ask your bank for a new card. Avast will no longer be able to charge. I also had a direct debit. And apart from the contact form, when you write to their emails (multiple different emails, these emails are rejected).

Moreover, when you want to stop a direct debit, you have to do it at least 30 times before receiving an email from Avast confirming it. It's all calculated so that Avast can carry out a direct debit.

Additionally, when I had a direct debit, there was a refund option below the order, I clicked it. Now I can no longer see it. I have sent at least 30 requests, and you always receive the same message. They say they don't have the bank details to issue a refund, just blah, blah, blah.

I am not going to go to the Czech Republic to file a complaint.

So request a new card from the bank, and Avast will no longer be able to use the old card on the Avast account.
