Good evening
For the past two weeks, I've had a "Program Compatibility Assistant" window popping up when I start my PC, displaying this error: "Unable to load a driver on this device. Driver: HpPortlox64.sys"
My PC is running Windows 11 and all updates are completed.
How can I fix this issue?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Cédric

Hello,

Disable from startup or uninstall OMEN gaming hub.

I already looked but I can't find OMEN Gaming Hub in the installed applications on the PC or in the startup applications.

Download Autoruns here, extract everything into a new folder anywhere, and run it as administrator.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns

If error messages occur, try version 13.98

https://filehippo.com/fr/download_autoruns/13.98/

In the Filter box, type HP, and disable all HP programs except Drivers (Files with the .sys extension)

Hello,

I'm starting on my HP PCs by removing all the HP programs and applications that are bloatware and serve no purpose.

Apart from the Windows Update settings for third-party drivers, one of them is responsible for updating HP drivers, which is unnecessary as we can manage that manually on the HP website if needed.

The program compatibility assistant is managed in services.msc by User Experience and in the scheduled tasks in Windows under Application Experience and Customer Experience; disable all of this along with the HP tasks while we're at it.

We can implement a group rate, except for HP, by disabling telemetry with an anti-bloatware tool (DoNotSpy, W10Privacy....).

Under these conditions, the only item left in the Run sections of Autoruns is hpseuhostlauncher.exe, which needs to be unchecked, and in services.msc, a half dozen HP services should be disabled, but HP Omen HSA Service puts up a fight.

A workaround is to go to Devices, click on the computer, properties, select each line mentioning HP Omen or Omen something, properties, change settings, driver, uninstall.

The behavior is due to the fact that the HP driver is not considered by Microsoft as compliant with memory integrity: the radical solution is to disable memory integrity in security center-device security-kernel isolation.

I downloaded autorun, I launched it, and I deleted all the programs except the drivers.
I restarted my PC and then a major error occurred at startup.
I was able to do a "repair system errors" at startup.
The PC was able to restart but the error appeared again.
I opened autorun again and all the programs are visible again (see attached).
Which programs should I delete and which ones should I keep?

It works!
Thank you.
Can I then delete HpPortlox64.sys and autorun?

Hello,

I always keep Autoruns as it comes in handy from time to time and it's not very heavy.

HpPortlox64.sys is related to the "Omen Gaming Hub" and is useless if you're not gaming (and even then, not sure about that).

As for me, I got rid of everything HP except of course PrintScan in case of an HP printer or for scanning with an HP application, the Disk Filter, and the Wireless Button if it's being used.
