Hello everyone :)
Maybe someone can help me please. I've scoured the internet and forums looking for someone with a similar problem to mine but I can't find anyone.
I've been using By Click Downloader for several months now. It has changed my life! It’s getting harder and harder to find software that can download entire playlists from YouTube in one click, so I was happy with my find. I was using version 2.3.45 in standalone mode until it stopped working, then I recently switched to version 2.4.6 (still in standalone), hoping it would get a new lease on life. But that doesn't work either, which makes me think the issue might not be with the software but with my computer (?!).
When I copy and paste a video or playlist to download, it never starts. And the "downloading" message changes to "reconnecting." I want to clarify that I don’t have any internet connection issues.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
- a CCleaner cleanup
- adding the software as an exception to my firewall and antivirus
- deleting the folder related to the software in AppData/Roaming and restarting the computer
- using a VPN (even though I don't see how that would make a difference, but I'm running out of ideas ^^)
If anyone has faced the same struggle or has any suggestions, I’m all ears.
Thanks and have a great weekend :)

The software works well for other people who downloaded it from the site I used, so I don't think it's a matter of the paid version. I actually have this standalone version to counter the trial version that always ends up expiring.
Has YouTube found a workaround? That's indeed a possibility, but in that case: why is it blocking on my side and not for other users?
Thank you for the suggestions. If you have any others, or software alternatives capable of downloading playlists like I mentioned in my first message, please keep me posted!
I may have to go back in search of another miracle software :( or succumb to a paid version ^^ how time-consuming!
Hello,
I have roughly the same problem. Yesterday, I installed the By Click update, I have the premium version, and this morning, I can't download a single song! The download progress stays on "reconnecting." I will check with other YouTube audio, in case there are new restrictions for downloading videos or audio from YouTube.
Hello, excuse me, I confused it with a paid software, so for me, no answer.

Please remember to mark your message as "resolved" if that's the case.
Hello,
It is not certain that these features have not become available only in the paid version.
We must also remember that these downloads are illegitimate; a number of sites allowing the download of not even a playlist but a single video in mp3 are ephemeral. It is possible that in the endless chase between the law and the thief, YouTube has also found a workaround.
Hello, I was curious to see this download site "Swiss Army Knife," has it passed through ARCOM's control? It disappears as soon as there's a threat!
There are about thirty sites that have been targeted.

I just found someone describing exactly the same problem as mine on the software's Facebook page! One of the last places I would have thought to look ^^. He even says he has the premium version. If you're paying for it and it still doesn't work???? I'm starting to believe that there’s no one in charge anymore.
I have the same problem, I think it comes from YouTube which has encrypted its videos because I have another software that no longer downloads like ByClick even though I am logged into YouTube. All this so that we subscribe to YouTube Premium and pay a subscription. Moreover, I struggled with ByClick to be limitless. I am trying to find another software, even if it's paid, because in the end it will cost less than paying 10 euros a month to YouTube. If I find something, I will let you know.
Hello... I'm encountering the same issue and it's not the first time. I complained to the publisher, and if they had a good hotline in 2024, it changed in 2025. Two months to respond, without resolving the problem.
The current version has the same issue, and it’s not due to your computer or your configuration. For me, it's a software issue that the publisher needs to fix.
They did it once or twice by releasing updates.
Unfortunately, the problem persists.
So send them a message on their site to explain the situation, which I have done every time I had this issue.
