Inserting a link (Ctrl K) no longer works in TB.

Hello, I've been using Thunderbird for years and recently I can no longer insert a hyperlink.

I understand that if I paste a URL into the text, the link is created automatically once sent or when the draft is saved. The problem is if I want to send a very long link and I wish to insert it into a word or a group of words by highlighting them and pressing Ctrl + K or insert / link.

The dialog box to insert the link does not open and my email in progress gets stuck. The only way I found to unfreeze the email is to press Escape. It's as if the box is open but not visible and is blocking my email.

I admit that I'm not keen on uninstalling TB and reinstalling it, I have so many accounts that the thought of doing it all over again is a bit daunting.

I should note that I updated TB before posting this message. But I've been having this problem for several months now, and I think several updates have been made since then.

Thanks for any help.

I solved my problem on my own by thinking it’s strange that the dialog box doesn’t appear but it feels like it’s still there.

So I minimized my writing window, moved it to a smaller size on the screen, inserted a link, and found my dialog box hidden halfway off the screen. I moved it to the center, closed it properly, and now it appears correctly when I write an email.
