Hello

I saw an advertisement for the TotalAV software which apparently works miracles

in terms of PC security do you know this product and is it really effective?

    Hello.

    This was already mentioned in 2021, and the answer hasn't changed: Total AV is a scam. If you are on Windows 10 or Windows 11, you don't need an antivirus, as there is already a built-in antivirus in Windows that is free and more effective than Total AV. It activates automatically as soon as no other antivirus is installed on the PC.

    Everything has already been said on CCM many times in different posts, so I'm closing this post.

    duplicate (to be avoided) - the answer has not changed in any way since 2021.

    There is no miracle product in computer science, perhaps even less so than in many other fields.

    Security products are constantly targeted by malicious actors of all kinds, and no absolute security is guaranteed, particularly not with regard to advertising, which only binds those who believe in it.

    Only basic precautionary practices (updates, not clicking on suspicious links, not using pirated software or visiting shady sites) allow for a relative peace of mind.

      Hello,

      You can't ask the most beautiful girl in the world for anything more than what she has, just as you can't expect any security software to be 100% effective against human incompetence and sometimes even worse.

      But when they are at least honest, they don't need to bombard people with ads; that alone should discourage further engagement.
