Hello,
I'm reaching out to you because I'm having a problem with my computer.
Out of the blue, I started having this Ethernet network issue.
Yet, I haven't touched anything.
Since this morning, I've been looking but nothing at all.
"Problem"
- Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration.
- Network not identified.
- I managed to get the network back but once I shut down the computer and restarted later, BOOM, nothing works again, no valid IP.
"My Steps"
- I ran CMD commands with Netsh (etc..).
- And I read this link: https://www.commentcamarche.net/maison/reseau-wifi/1075-resoudre-les-problemes-de-configuration-ip/
- I have some commands that did not work.
- But nothing has changed, still no Ethernet network.
- I changed the cable.
- Restarted my Box.
- The RJ45 ports are both green. (PC and Box)
- I did the Windows updates and others.
- I updated the network card.
- I restored.
I don't know what to do..!
"My Computer Info:"
My network card: Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
System: Windows 10 Home Edition
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU G1610 @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHz
Installed RAM: 4.00 Go (3.90 Go usable)
System type: 64-bit operating system, x64 processor
(P.S; sorry if I have any mistakes)
Thank you for your help.

Hello @Bellabe30 StatutMembre.
You didn't say if you're connected directly to the box via Ethernet.
If you're connected via powerline adapters or through a wall socket, connect your PC directly to the box and check if you still have this problem.
If you're actually connected directly to the box, try this driver from April 29, 2024.

A hello, a reply, a thank you are always appreciated.
Hello @bazfile StatutModérateur, Contributeur sécurité
I am connected via an RJ45 Ethernet cable from the computer to the Livebox.
Not to a socket or a wall.
I installed the driver but it still doesn't work.
Thank you.

Hi
Have you tried another Ethernet port on the box? What model of Livebox do you have?
What does an ipconfig /all give you:
- Press and hold the Windows key, press the R key and release them both
- Type (or copy/paste to avoid typing errors) in the dialog box that has opened: cmd /k ipconfig/all > int.txt & notepad int.txt
- Then click on Ok
- Copy/paste what appears on the screen in your next response
Good evening @kaumune StatutContributeur
Yes, I did them.

I just noticed that the IPv4 autoconfiguration address changes every time, is that not normal?!
Thank you

Thanks to your help, the issue concerning this is well resolved.

Hi
Yes, the change is normal; the PC assigns itself an IP address, but it doesn't fit to integrate into the local network provided by your box.
The PC is not obtaining a TCP/IP configuration from the DHCP server of your box.
Is it an MSI motherboard (apparently, according to the MAC address of the network card)?
What exact machine are we talking about?
Is the PC connecting to another box (is it a fault of your box?)?
Are other PCs or smartphones connecting to your box (is it a fault of your PC's network card?)?
What antivirus/firewall do you have?
It's an old network card; do you have the option to test via Wi-Fi or use a USB/Ethernet adapter to highlight a possible issue with your network card??
Hi, I think I replied to you so sorry if it's not the case
Yes, I have another computer that is also connected via cable to the livebox and it works very well, no connection from my computer.
Everything goes through the livebox.
And no, I don't have wifi on it.
Antivirus: Windows Security
Firewall: Windows Defender
Thank you
hi kaumune,
so you'll need to do a reset of the box ==> click here
or check out this video ==> click here

re
with the ref MS-7788, I arrive at this model H61M-P20(G3) ==> source

It's better to use the LAN drivers from the Realtek site, this has ALSO already been done without success on the 25th at 10:42 PM, proposed by Bazfile on the 25th at 10:48 AM
It would also be good for the requester to give us a screenshot of the installed driver in the network card properties
I would lean, given the elements provided, towards a faulty network card and suggested to him, since his card is integrated into the motherboard, trying an USB/Ethernet adapter without a response from him (???)
Hi,
Thank you.
I think it might be the network card that's dead too because I've tried everything, even the messages from @bazfile StatutModérateur, Contributeur sécurité.
Yes, I will buy a USB adapter.
And I’ll get back to you.
Thanks again.

I did everything
No, you didn't answer the question:
Does this PC connect to another router? (friend, neighbor)
We could also try a manual configuration for testing, even though it's a solution that might mask a problem.
Also check the DHCP server configuration of the router (the one that assigns addresses to machines that connect to it)
That would prevent buying an adapter for nothing.
A gigabit/usb3 adapter can always be useful; in fact, if he had one in advance, he would probably be asking himself fewer questions right now.
After all, indeed, if a DHCP is not working, I would first go through other tests:
a live USB Linux, for example, to see if it's a driver that is not functioning anymore.
And also a Wireshark capture to get a better idea of what is or isn't happening, even if we don't fully understand the protocols; just see if we're receiving packets.
Hello,
Well, let me explain a bit.
I played around with the Windows firewall and the Livebox one, disabling and re-enabling them.
The network would come back and then disappear again, so it was a headache.
When I can get the network, it's cool of course.
But when I restart the computer, I have the invalid IP problem again.
So I played with the firewalls again.
I also saw in my Network Status Settings: that the Ethernet Network was set to Public, not Private.
So I changed it back to Private.
I'm already very happy because the network card is not dead :)
Have a good day.
