HP 3762 printer installation refused
SolvedHello,
My USB-connected HP DeskJet 3762 printer is not responding to print. I reinstalled HPLIP and tried to install the driver by typing:
sudo apt update, sudo apt install hpilp, # after starting the printer hp-setup ia
I get:

Thank you for shedding light if anyone has a solution

Hello,
The approach you are following seems correct (installing hplip + using hp-setup).
But I see that you are using Ubuntu 18.04 which is very old and no longer maintained. When searching for the error message you reported, we come across discussions dating back to 2018 (the time of Ubuntu 18.04) that suspected a bug with hplip.
My recommendation would therefore be to upgrade to a recent version of Ubuntu, or even to reinstall (without formatting the partition that hosts /home, using manual partitioning). If you decide to begin this process, I recommend saving your important documents to another drive before starting the procedure.
Additionally, if the problem persists, you should consider connecting to your printer via wifi.
Good luck
Hello mamiemando.
Forgive me for this late reply as I don't turn on my PC very often anymore. By the way, I wonder if I have already replied to you. Well, no worries.
I have been using Ubuntu 22.04 since its release and I update it regularly.
In the end, I went to HP and randomly downloaded one of the drivers offered for this 3700 series without much hope and... oh miracle! it is working now.
Problem solved, thank you for your advice. Good evening
