Fortnite is stuck at 5 fps and CPU and GPU are locked at 5%.

Hello,

When I launch Fortnite and arrive at the game's home screen, I am stuck at 20 fps or even below (5 fps 80% of the time) with 150 ms. I checked my computer's performance for the game, and the graphics card and the processor don't go above 6%, while I can run other games properly. To me, it seems like they are not running at 100% of their capacities. I checked the antivirus and it should be fine, I've already tried reinstalling the game and the problem is the same. I've also checked the files and installed all the game's additional content, but it remains the same. When I played Fortnite Racing or Lego Fortnite, the game still didn't run (the same issues mentioned above). How can I make the game work again, please?

I would be super happy to be able to play again and thank you for taking the time to read this.

      I made this hypothesis, but the thing is that the virus would only be on Fortnite because all my other games run really well, like Cyberpunk at high quality at an average of 80 fps.

    (6 days is not a big deal, I'm replying in the middle of the night here but I'm not as knowledgeable as flo88, who can surely take over)

    (Recently we had a similar issue with a PC on Fortnite, it was the monitor cable accidentally plugged in or for a test on the motherboard and the PC took a bit of time to realize it actually had a graphics card, so everything didn't go back to normal right away but here your PC sees it well, Userdiag finds it in good shape, we'll see...)

    - The Userdiag site already tells you that "an optimization software" may have modified elements in all your settings, this might require you to double-check everything for your games, good luck, I don't know it, it's surely not catastrophic but it's going to cost you some time to get everything back in order.

    The TCPAutotuningDisabled registry key has been modified.
    The TCP Optimizer software has probably been used.
    This registry key allows disabling TCP autotuning.
    This may reduce throughput and create connectivity issues.

    - In 40 seconds on a test, the CPU peaked at 93°, trending upwards at the end, it's a normal stress test that pushes it to the max but sometimes the PC slows everything down to avoid crashing a program, so the PC is reacting well, it slows down but simply controls the temperature.

    It might be what's happening, it's not crashing which is a good sign, but don't react by pushing voltage and power higher right away to increase FPS and utilization percentage, it will come when you understand what's wrong with just 2 games.

    Start with the software and these optimization stories, it's all about checking without messing everything up, sometimes it's just a setting but you need to find which one. It was working, it's an error to find, don't reset everything, there are only 2 games having issues, everything else seems fine.

    That's what I would do to start, we'll see what Flo88 or the others say.

    If you need to improve overall case ventilation, other more obvious signs are needed, it's not urgent and it won't solve the real issue by itself.

      For the high performance profile of the Ryzen 5 3600, I saw that they switched to a quieter profile moving from "extreme" performance to "balanced," but there have been AMD updates in the past three years.

      This allowed for increased frequency under load.

      You can try it out to see; it’s one test among others.

      However, you should only do it for the userdiag test and a 20-minute test, as well as for the game that isn't working, just to try and compare. Maybe it lowers the voltages but without directly tweaking and risking an error.

    I also think a longer test would have been more revealing (that’s what I asked for), it’s likely that the CPU overheats and regulates its frequency to avoid hitting the reset temperature. As a result, performance collapses....

    So we know that it can play certain games and it can handle a stress test for 20 minutes, but we still suspect some overheating.

    If we lower the performance profile a bit and redo the user diagnostic for 20 minutes, we'll know if it’s a faulty setting. If everything goes well, we won't be taking too many risks. In any case, the user diagnostic test stops automatically if the temperature gets too high, and if it overheats, we'll see it adjust the frequencies.

    If by any chance the fans are intentionally set to run slower to make less noise, we still need to allow them to run at full speed if necessary for this test.

    We've already seen this setting be the cause of the problem.
